Meesh - Illustration Burnout

I've been feeling some heavy fatigue with my illustrations as of late. Each one takes 5 or 6 days to finish, which feels a little bit too long, especially with high demand for new comic pages. For years I've been putting a ton of pressure on myself to make illustrations this Big Event with a narrative and some sort of lofty concept. The Party Chick series was me trying to dial it back a little bit, but the simpler concepts don't feel like they justify the amount of time it takes to bring it to a polished finish.
These feelings are sort of related to my Art and Fear post, and me trying to give myself permission to play around a little bit more and not make my projects or sketches in-between comic pages any more grandiose than they need to be. Sometimes you just wanna draw a dude spreading his asscheeks and it doesn't need a week's worth of work to get the point across.
Some ideas will still justify a more polished approach, and I'd like to feel the freedom to do so when those ideas come along, rather than force myself to labor over a project that I'm not passionate about. All that to say, I'd like to take it a little easier on myself with the illustrations. What that'll look like moving forward, I'm not sure, but it's with the intent of introducing more play into my work rather than trying to outdo myself every other week.
