What's New?

Woooo personally it's been a crazy month for me, found out I'm getting laid off, bombed a dream job interview, moving into another apartment, aaaaaaand lotta job application rejections.

BUT I'M STILL HERE CAN'T GET RID OF ME THAT EASY.

All that being said we got some cool updates this month, including a new character route! So without further ado let's get into what v0.0.6 (Demo V3) brought.

Joint Updates

Assets

As usual I like to make sure both Itch and Patreon releases both have assets updated jointly as the commissions are finished, the only difference between the two game versions will be story content.

The new park background from Vui has been incorporated into both versions of the game.

Troy's character sprite has also been added to the game for all routes. No expressions yet, just a slight delay with the art. Depending on when they are finished I might upload a patch or just wait until the next build.

Oh! Also found some emotes on itch someone was kind enough to provide, so I'm adding those as part of character expressions.

Skip NSFW Setting

I'm also experimenting with a new setting, skipping "NSFW" content. While the story I want to write includes spicy content I also understand that for many a SFW romantic story is ideal. So the thought is to give people the option to choose what kind of story they would like to play. NSFW content is enabled by default.

Now, I use the terms NSFW and SFW loosely. In this context SFW means no nudity (but there will be underwear), textual sex scenes, or visual sex scenes. Skipping NSFW content will still include suggestive dialogue. Depending on the context selecting to skip NSFW will skip the scene entirely or replace it with a SFW counterpart. The idea is that either option will still provide a rich, fulfilling story depending on your preference. The only time the NSFW content is simply skipped is when that particular scene is relevant to the context of the story. Either way I think it'll be an interesting writing challenge while still being able to indulge in my own desires haha.

Miscellaneous

The in-game quick menu has been updated to be icons instead of text. This includes a new rollback button to make it easier to rollback on android devices.

I've added the option to skip to the route selection, this option will appear if you've played to the end of D1 at least once in the latest version (v0.0.6). It will update the story variables as if you've approached all the characters and apply the default five like points.

Love and Like allocations points have been updated to be a bit more consistent across routes so you may need to restart the game to properly get max points. I recommend creating a new save files since the modified data structures won't be compatible with the old version of the game.

Itch Specific Updates

William D3 has been released publicly! Our little hyena boi yearns for the old man yaoi.

Patreon Specific Updates

A new route has been added, Blake! If you've played up to D2 for any other route you know who I'm talking about. Now, because I'm a little gremlin, Blake's D2 has an unlock condition (hint, similar to the skip route selection unlock). Sooooo at some point if you replay D1 his route option will appear.WARNING: Blake's route is incredibly sexually charged, like right off the bat. The intention for his route is to be very differently paced from the others. But don't worry there's still romance and sweet, sweet emotional release. I understand if it's not everyone's cup of tea but I really enjoyed fleshing out his character and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised as you learn more about him.

What's Next in August?

Now that Troy's sprite is almost done up next is Patrick's sprite!

I am currently in the process of writing Patrick's D3 in preparation for his sprite.

Depending on my financial situation I'm hoping August will bring 1-2 more backgrounds.

Long Term Plans

Official Release: The thing about VNs is that they're often in development for quite some time, but what will dictate the transition from demo to release? My criteria will be having the character sprites for all of the main cast. I'm putting a soft deadline for the end of 2026 for this after conferring with the character artist.

Character Episodes: Now there is a purpose for all those books you can unlock! Eventually I plan to write episodes for the main cast, unlocking books will unlock the episodes! This won't be for some time though as I want to go further in the main story first.

Blake's Secret Sub-Route: Similarly the recipes will eventually unlock something as well. I've been planning out two branches to Blake's route, the main one aaaaaand something else yet to be announced ;) Again this won't be for a while as I need to plan out all the recipes that will be included in the game and plot out Blake's main storyline more.

CGs: Again, depending on budgeting, I plan on commissioning 1-2 SFW CGs before the end of the year. Fingers crossed it all works out!
