MeshedVR - VaM2 Addon Kit Beta0.2 Has Been Released
infoAbout This Title
Overview
This release of the VaM2 Addon Kit is exclusive to our Patreon Creator tier backers. Please do not distribute.
This Addon Kit is a Unity project that can be used to make addon content for VaM2. We use a development version of the Addon Kit ourselves to create all of the content you see in VaM2. This release provides just some of the capabilities our internal developer kit allows, but over time, as we improve the usability of features, we will release updates to the Addon Kit to unlock the full power. For today's release, the Addon Kit officially allows you to create:
Skin (texture/material/shader) addons
Blend Shape (morph) addons
This release also includes templates and capabilities to create the following types of addons, but we have not yet officially documented these, so use should be considered experimental:
Figure addons
Object addons
Mode (UI/UX) addons
Environment addons
We will work on documenting these additional addon types so they can be added to the officially supported types.
Note: this version of the Addon Kit only works with VaM2 Beta1.2. Please make sure you install that first. See the other release post for information on the VaM2 Beta1.2 release: https://www.patreon.com/meshedvr/posts/vam2-beta1-2-has-166345078
Improvements in this release
FEATURE - New in-editor Play mode testing environment that works a lot like runtime game for making it easier to test addons and interactions between them
FEATURE - CombinedImporter - added ability to rename materials during Figure import
FEATURE - CombinedImporter - added ability for Figures to have material mapping (useful for geograft situations that add additional materials that are duplicates of base materials)
FEATURE - AlignSceneViewToObject - added override mode to allow using manual settings and ignore the frame object
FEATURE - DazMorphImportTool - added ability for additional import directories
TWEAK - Improved geoshell wrap system to be more accurate. Removes artifacts in interior of genitals
TWEAK - DazMorphImportTool - make Daz Morph Folder red if it is not valid
TWEAK - AddonCreator - improved uniquification when building the addons to prevent issues when using multiple versions of the same addon at the same time
Download
In the future we plan to create an updater for the Addon Kit, but for now it is a zip download. This zip contains a Unity project that you can open with Unity. Please unzip to a new folder (do not use the same folder as the previous Addon Kit release), and then follow the information in the documentation link further down in this post which explains how to install Unity and open the project in Unity. Please do not share this link. This is for Creator tier backers only!
Documentation
We have created some guides to help you through the install and the creation of addons here:
https://hub.virtamate.com/forums/vam2-public-addon-kit.71/
As mentioned above, we will improve this documentation to document creation of the other addon types. Unity can take some time to learn, so please be patient with yourself! Unity is fairly intuitive after you use it for a bit, and we have tried to make the Addon Kit as easy as possible to use.
We can't wait to see what you create!
