They call it a sickness at first. Then a quarantine. Then something with no name at all, something old and patient that does not simply kill you. It listens. It learns. It wears the voices of the people it takes.
Earth has faced outbreaks before. It has never faced anything that wanted to be understood.
Signal by signal, city by city, the broadcasts are going dark. The only question left is who is still transmitting when the last light goes out, and whether anything is coming to answer.
