About This Title
WE’RE SWITCHING THINGS UP!
We’ve talked a little before about making some changes to the way we choose new shows, mainly so that different types of shows have a better chance of making it through the polls instead of the same kinds of favorites dominating every round.
One idea we want to experiment with is occasionally giving a suggestion round a theme. And for this round… we’re taking a break from comedy. We’ve been introduced to SO many incredible comedies through you guys, but this time we want to open the door to something completely different.
THIS ROUND’S THEME:Drama • Crime • Action • Thriller • Mystery
Just to give you an idea of the kind of shows we mean, a few titles that have come up in recent conversations are: Sherlock, Jonathan Creek, Slow Horses, and Utopia. Those are only examples... you absolutely do not have to choose from those shows. We want to hear what YOU think we should experience next!
And just to clarify: a show can absolutely have comedy in it. Plenty of dramas, crime shows, mysteries, etc. have funny moments or comedic characters, and that’s completely fine. The key is that comedy shouldn’t be the main focus of the show. If the show is primarily a comedy, save that one for a future comedy-themed round or an open-voting round where everything is fair game.
SERIES LENGTH:For this round, please keep recommendations to:
6 series or fewer
OR
5 series + specials
A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:Because these reactions eventually go onto YouTube, the show still needs to be reasonably suitable for the platform. Occasional violence, strong language, gore, nudity, etc. can usually be edited around — but if a show contains a lot of it, we may have to cut so much from the reaction that it hurts the overall viewing experience.
There may also occasionally be a show that we simply cannot access or properly record with our setup. You do NOT need to research any of that before recommending something. Submit what you think we would enjoy! We just want everyone to understand that if a show does really well in the vote and we later discover that we can't record or upload it, we may have to remove it from consideration.
AND ONE IMPORTANT THING…Not every suggestion round is going to have a theme. We still plan on having plenty of completely open rounds where anything goes, just like we’ve done in the past. The themed rounds are simply another way for us to shake things up, explore different genres, and, hopefully, give some shows that might otherwise get buried a real chance to win.
So this time around...
Give us your best dramas, mysteries, crime shows, thrillers, action series, and everything in between. You will have until the end of the day Sunday to submit your requests.
