A more recent sketch page. This one kind of got consumed by foot studies as it went on. Footpaws exist on some multidimensional spectrum and by exploring enough of it I guess you eventually end up on a design that looks right to you. And yeah, this can evolve in some pretty significant ways. Here, I was breaking down some shape and structure elements so I can pull back later and describe them more elegantly.
The giant otter has also returned. I mentioned before that I like taking species that aren't already (let's say) conventionally cute or sexy and trying to find some way to get at their natural beauty. Whether it works or not, we'll have to see...
There’s also the tea room layout I eventually used for "Hazey". I needed at least one view of the place to clarify it in my mind and establish the design vibe of the place, even if most of it was destined to be obscured by the characters doing very distracting stuff.
So, the foot studies aren’t just for fun... There’s a work in progress that gave me a good excuse to brush up on my fox paws. But that's for next time!
