HMioKun - [BB: ENCORE] Indefinite PAUSE on Chapter 4
infoAbout This Title
Hello everyone,
I have some news that goes a bit against what I'd announced before: I don't think I'll be able to finish Beat Banger Chapter 4 the way I wanted to...
I know my skills, and I know I can finish one animation every 2-3 days, so I could clearly have finished Chapter 4 by the end of the year. Except that since Chapter 3, the pressure of learning music composition in just a few months (when it would really take years to master the basics) weighed on me a lot, on top of some health issues this summer that forced me to take a break. I eventually made progress on Chapter 3, then tackled the music, I spent an entire week on it without managing to create something as good as I wanted.
At the same time, I'm completely stuck on the Zoe animations for Chapter 4: I've been working on just one since Monday, putting in 30 minutes to 1 hour a day. The truth is, I don't really have the drive to keep working on Beat Banger anymore. At first I did it because I enjoyed it, like with Chapters 1 and 2. But since Chapter 3, that drive has been replaced by pressure and boredom, because ever since I started writing tons of concepts for a Visual Novel back in November 2025, that's where all my motivation to create really lives: my own story, my own universe, my own characters, with the freedom to explore writing, character design, mini-games, and more. It'll be my game, not someone else's.
That's why I'm going to take an indefinite break from Beat Banger, and maybe pick Chapter 4 back up one day. I'll push myself to properly finish Chapter 3 and this last Zoe animation, but honestly, the only motivation I have left for that is you. I regret making that promise about the 4 chapters back then, at the time I didn't realize how much stress it would create over time, or how much I'd lose interest in this mod. In reality, I'd already done everything I wanted to do with the first two chapters; the rest are bonus content, but I've ended up stuck in a format that bores me.
I'm aware that my next project won't necessarily be to everyone's taste, and my writing probably won't be on the level of other Visual Novels. But I've already made a lot of progress on ideas and drafts, and I want to do it, that's what matters most. It's okay if it doesn't appeal to everyone, and it's okay if I lose some subscribers along the way: creating for money or for others first never really lasts. What matters is doing what I've wanted to do for 2 years now, a project where I can lose track of time for hours because everything about it interests me.
Thank you for reading this wall of text, and thank you so much for your support on BB: Encore. Let's already be proud of how far we've come: all the animations with Zoe, Claire, and Dawna, even if the other characters didn't get their chance. Who knows, maybe I'll come back to it one day. Either way, I'll finish Chapter 3 and this last Zoe animation.
If my Visual Novel interests you, I'll share more in a few months!
