Cosy Creator - Dev Log 83
infoAbout This Title
Hey guys, it's that time again!
I mentioned a little while ago that some of the coming dev logs would be rather short while I'm in the depths of the rendering process, and this one really will be! Having said that, I haven't actually done a whole lot of rendering these past couple of weeks, with most of my time being devoted to map making instead.
I've attached a few preview pictures to show you some of what I've been working on...
They probably don't look particularly impressive in and of themselves, but this is the first time I've done any big, wide-open exterior maps, and it's a lot of work! The software I use for rendering really isn't designed for doing this sort of thing, so it's a constant battle to squeeze as much as I can into my graphics card's limited Vram without crashing the whole thing, while still getting enough assets loaded into the scene to make it look like a big open world. I've had to figure out all sorts of perspective tricks that simply don't come up with the usual interior environments that I'm used to making.
Still, it's been a productive couple of weeks and I'm happy with how they're turning out, though I must admit that I'm looking forward to getting back to rendering - I know it's a vital part of the process, but whenever I'm making maps and I don't see the render number going up I don't feel like I'm making progress, which bugs me!
And that's all I've got to report for this one, but I'll finish off by dropping in a little video of Hannah and Lucy posing that I made the other day...
I had planned on adding it directly to the post, but apparently Patreon won't let me do that, so you'll have to click the link and it should play in a new tab/window:
As always, I'll speak to you again in a couple of weeks - thanks for your support, I truly appreciate it!
