Goblin Gamer - Tokyo Disneyland and sea tips and tricks

infoAbout This Title

This is going to be a 2 part series. Part 1 will cover all tips and tricks and Part 2 will be on how to read the crowd calendar I suggest.

General knowledge: note that Tokyo Disney has two parks. Tokyo disneyland which is a remake of the california park but smaller and tokyo disney sea which is their unique park. See other disney post for more information.

BEFORE ANY OTHER TIPS IF YOU GO DOWNLOAD THE TOKYO DISNEY APP FIRST

My first tip of course is to plan the day you are going.

Be mindful of big Japanese holidays, specifically any romantic holiday. Tokyo Disney is seen as a prime spot for couples and thus becomes extremely crowded around christmas, valentines day, and white day.

Check what events are going on at Tokyo Disney. They have many. For example if it is the 40th anniversary of tokyo disneyland then plan to go to tokyo disney sea instead for less crowds and lines.

Check if it is currently a break for japanese students that will up the ride times considerably.

Reservations.

Note that some restaurants take reservations before the day of, However most are made from within the park.

Reservations can be made from within the Tokyo Disney app

Disney restaurants early reservation

East side cafe

Center street coffeehouse

restaurant hokusai

Crystal palace restaurant

Blue bayou

Disney sea  restaurants early reservation

Magellans

Ristorante di canaletto

S.S. columbia dining room

The teddy roosevelt lounge

Restaurant sakura

Horizon bay restaurant

Hotel restaurants also require an early reservation

All ride fast passes must be made from within the park

What times to always avoid

Late december - early january. New years is a BIG deal in Japan and most people have the first week of January off. This means CROWDS. Also as previously mentioned avoid Christmas time as it is a romantic holiday in japan which means CROWDS.

Around February 14th or March 14th. These are both romantic holidays. Romantic holidays = CROWDS

Fast passes

When you first get into the park (if it still exists) book the 40th anniversary pass first as its the first to sell out OR book either elsa and anna or sorin if those are rides you really want.

Japan has two fast passes currently. The paid fast pass and the free 40th anniversary pass (however this will be departing soon)

The fast passes they offer vary in price from 1500-2000 yen

For the paid passes you must wait 60 minutes before purchasing another or have scanned the first pass

For unpaid the rules are the same only you have to wait 2 hours before reserving another pass

What Time should you arrive?

This entirely depends on how crowded the park is and what you want to accomplish. This will be based on an average day assuming no brand new rides/lands are opening

You want to do everything!: I recommend getting to the park 30minutes-1 hour early (8am) this will allow you to get into the park and make your fast pass reservations.

You want to do a lot but in a more chill way: Arrive 30-1hr minutes after the park opens (9:30am-10am) . By this time a lot of the line if not all will be gone and you can walk into the park easily. However this does mean it may be more difficult to get in demand fast passes such as sorin or the frozen ride. Also most likely all 40th anniversary passes will be gone. But there will still be other rides available.

You want a shorter day at Disney: check out their half day tickets. Usually starting at 3pm (weekends) or 5pm (weekdays) these tickets offer a reduced price and a chiller time. If the park is less crowded you will still be able to get fast passes and enjoy many rides.

Mobile ordering

Instead of waiting in lines check our app for which restaurants offer mobile order. This will help you skip lines and some newly opened restaurants only allow mobile ordering (snugly duckling for example).

Places to relax

In both parks there are a few places I recommend to shelter from the heat, cold, or rain

Tokyo Disney sea

Ariel's grotto

An underground area directed at younger children however it is both beautiful and a great place to hangout and take a break

Sinbad's storybook voyage

This is a fast loading ride that takes place inside and is calm and dark. A nice place to rest

Tokyo Disneyland

Countrybear jamboree

An animatronic bear show which has a pleasant waiting room and places to sit.

Plazma rays diner

They have many seats inside to rest at

Single Rider

If you don’t mind being separated from your companions this is a great option for wayyyy shorter lines. However not all rides offer single rider. You can see if a ride offers single rider from within the app and can filter attractions based on it.

Tokyo Disney sea

Peter pan’s neverland adventure

Anna and Elsa's frozen adventure (although they don’t always allow it look for the sign)

Raging spirits

Indiana jones adventure: temple of the crystal skull

Tokyo Disneyland

Enchanted tale of beauty and the beast

Final Notes

Overall if there are rides you really want to do check how popular they are and if you will need a pass to get on them. Check if you need reservations for the restaurant you would like to go to. AND HAVE FUN!

Also if you need help planning a tokyo disney trip hmu lol
