Crashsune - Camera can change your character

infoAbout This Title

Hey!!

If everything’s ever looked great in the viewport, but completely WRONG in a render; you’re not alone. I’ve been there too!!

Before remodeling everything, check your camera!! It can COMPLETELY change how your model looks in a scene. And it’s all due to Field-of-View (FOV)

A high FOV value exaggerates the distance between things; body parts closer to the camera seem HUGE in comparison to other limbs a little further away.

It can be really effective for close-up angles and action shots, but can REALLY throw off a normal character scene.

Lower FOV values have less distortion, but compress proportions and makes your render look more 2D. Limbs that are further away from the camera are a similar size to limbs closer to the camera, which can make it hard to judge relative distances!

That’s why it’s SO important to experiment with your camera! if something looks wrong, it could mean your FOV is configured incorrectly!

There’s been SO many times I wondered why my characters looked off even though I was sure they were sized properly…

So instead of remodeling everything, just check your camera’s FOV.

It can save you HOURS.

If you’re interested in learning more about cameras, I actually cover it in my FREE animation tutorial series! Check it out below:
