Enilria - Avelo Drops Lakeland (LAL) Route
About This Title
In the Weekly Schedule Changes we noticed that Avelo was exiting one of its Lakeland (LAL) routes. I would have thought this one would be one of their better opportunities from LAL.
• Atlanta (ATL) - Lakeland (LAL) [416 miles]
The route is ending just after the Holidays and flights for January onward are cancelled. That includes March which is the peak. When asked for comment, Avelo told enilria.com that with 2/week it was probably not enough to get customer attention in a heavily served market to Orlando (MCO) and Tampa (TPA). Fuel cost was also a factor. They left open that they might try again in the future.
I'm fairly surprised it didn't work relative to their other LAL routes. Atlanta (ATL) - Lakeland (LAL)XP has served the route annually since Nov 2024. Traffic for YE2026Mar was 10 PDEW at $76 RT, versus 2 PDEW at $135 RT for YE2025Mar. Point of sale mix is ATL 38% / LAL 62%. Market share for YE2026Mar was XP 100%. ATL point-of-origin share was XP 100%. LAL point-of-destination share was XP 100%. Market share for YE2025Mar was XP 100%. Currently averaging 0 flights/week for 2026Oct versus 0 flights/week for 2027Jan, with 85 seats/week versus 43 seats/week.All Fares Include Estimated Average Ancillary, Frequently Asked Questions at: enilria.com/FAQ/f39.htm
