freshmulan - Progress Report

Howdy! Here’s what’s up:

So far everything is going according to a plan and we are successfully avoiding the previous mistakes. Since the last report, we did release the bugfix last month and made significant progress on the next version. I also took some time off working on the update to work on Kira’s upcoming art upgrade, which is what this post will be primarily about. 

Since the content of the next version will be a surprise (hopefully a pleasant one), I can’t really talk about it here, which is both difficult for me and in a way kind of defeats the purpose of the progress reports. But, we do want to have some surprises for you when we can, and the upcoming update does fit the bill. 

That said, I already have enough material for two separate posts to talk about. It’s just that this time I’ll publish it after the release instead of spoiling everything prior to it. I’m writing down things that I would normally talk about in posts like this one, and will make a “Post Mortem” after the release of the next version, a week or so later to give people time to play it. 

The only teaser about the next update there will be - is this image. And I refuse to elaborate on it!: 

The rest of this post will be purely about Kira’s face-lift, her hair, her lips and a little bit about her breasts (unrelated to the next update).

Let’s start with the winner of the last hair poll and Kira’s lips: 

I slightly edited the pigtails, to make the “tail” parts more straight, but other than that I changed nothing else, this will be the fourth hairstyle available in our game and shown in all events, not it’s “set in stone”.  

As for Kira’s lips, the feedback I got was that the “size 2” looked just like the enlarged regular lips (which it was), and that it would be more fitting if Kira had “instagram model” lips, something between her regular lips and the ridiculous Dsl ones - which is what I’ve tried to do and hopefully succeeded. I also slightly edited the textures of “size 3” to make them more in-line with the new version of her second lips. 

Please do tell me if you like those versions, or if you had something else in mind, or if I went too overboard with the second size. I did make it the same when it comes to overall proportions, but they do look different now due to their new “roundness”, so maybe you dislike that. 

If everything is good, then I’ll move on, if not - I can make more versions and poll you on which one you prefer. Her lips are not yet “written in stone”, I still have a lot of other work to do before we’ll start implementing Kira’s new face in game, so I can still keep working on them.

Speaking of her face lift: 

Kira’s new face doesn’t really fit her current body, so I’m also going to upgrade all her “skin” textures. Above is the current version I have and am working on. 

To avoid redoing everything again, stagnating, and being stuck in the “Rework” loop of my own making - I am just going to upgrade her skin while maintaining the overall shape and proportions. This means that there won’t be thousands of pictures for me to edit, things like “cum/writings/piercings/tattoos/milk/underwear/outfits/etc.” will all fit this new version of her. 

So, this isn’t that big of a deal in terms of time, but it is a “change” and I need your feedback on it.  

Last time, there also was a question about Kira’s hip sizes and whether or not I intend to change the shape of her ass (to give her ass sizes the same treatment her lips currently are receiving). I didn’t have such plans, just because it is too much work - it means updating all her underwear, pants, skirts, writings, cum, tattoos, any picture that touches her lower half even a little.   

However, since then, I’ve decided that I can give it a shot, but I will drop this idea if it proves to be too time-consuming (for the sake of us not being stuck and moving on with the game). 

If you do want it, or if you’re at least curious to see how it might look, I would love some reference images. The current hips Kira has were also poll winners back in the day, and they were also made with your feedback and suggestions, so please do send some references to me if you can - and I’ll do my best to make it happen. 

Since we’re on this topic, I’d like to talk about Kira’s breast sizes across all our events, older events, and about when we will add more of them. 

For older events: My current plan is not to just replace Kira’s face and slightly update her body textures across the entire game. I want to try and implement all existing and planned breast sizes across all H-events that currently don’t support them. 

I won’t do any other things (like writings, milk, tattoos, etc.), just her breasts, hair, and pregnancy - things that would stand out too much. This, I feel, is a much more realistic goal to accomplish, instead of trying to do everything at once again. 

Newer events: They already have everything and are just sitting and waiting for a time when we will “unlock” breast sizes and things like pregnancy. In them I’ll just update the textures and replace the images, no coding on Moana’s end will be required. It will be tedious, but doable. 

When new breast sizes will be added?: The next two sizes will be added in Vivarium, and we will return to working on it in just a few updates. Each update brings that day closer, as I do add things that are needed for new breasts to work with each update (including the upcoming one). 

Realistically, the remainder of this year will be spent on getting us there - on us connecting Vivarium with the main plot, and finishing Kira’s upgrade. Kira’s art, even without an upgrade, is currently not ready for more breast sizes, I still need to finish adjusting all of her outfits to work with bigger breasts and pregnancy. I’ve been doing that in the background, it’s seriously a lot of work and images, and I think I will be done by the end of this year. If we were to add another breast size now, your Kira would be stuck with giant “placeholder” images across the screen, it simply won’t work because it’s not ready. 

There’s a reason why very few games have body mods like ours - it’s very time consuming. But we’re doing our best to speed this process up. 

However, the entire next year will be dedicated to just Vivarium and more body modifications (like hair, breasts and a pregnancy system) for Kira. 

There's one more thing I wanted to briefly talk about in this post, Kira’s last hairstyle: 

Above are all her current and planned hairstyles, they are “set in stone”, and now I’m starting the poll for her last hairstyle.   

I hope you don’t mind, but I took a liberty and removed the pink/blonde versions from the roster of potential colors, since we already have blonde/pink colors. This color poll should be up right now. 

All in all, things are good, we’re working, there are no hiccups this time around and if all goes to plan the next release will arrive relatively soon. 

While the things I talked about in this post are unrelated to the next version, I did want to talk about them because I need your feedback before we’ll move on with their implementation. 

So please do tell me if you like the new lips and body textures, or if you’d like to see me change something about them. I also could really use some image references for Kira’s hips, and would greatly appreciate any help.
