Following up on the data discovery from my last update, there is an important takeaway that goes beyond the data. This doctoral research project has been very enlightening for myself. Because of that I have a new declaration to go with my no paywall policy.
The $2.50 tier isn't going anywhere. Ever!
When looking through a purchasing power lens, a flat subscription model can easily turn into an unintentional wall. Two dollars and fifty cents represents a radically different value depending on local currency and living costs. Forcing higher minimums turns voluntary backing into an exorbitant ask.
