I was trying out the gradient map feature to see if stuff like coloring Miriam or Opal would be easier. It kinda is! I used it to finish a sketch.
New recruits are warned to stay away from the small rocky island cave off the coast. They aren't told why, it's meant to see if they'll follow orders--or if they'll go skulking about thinking they can find Old Captain Gainsboro's treasure stash and steal it. Trespassers are tangled questioned and swallowed by the resident octopus long before they can find the real entrance. It happens often enough to cause a labor shortage, so as part of their mutually beneficial business arrangements Miriam reports casualties to the good captain. She might let essential crew go, for the right price... But she often gets to keep at least one of them--AND make a profit. Win-win :v
