Here you can see the ultimate layout plan for "the rescue" mural. I've wanted to continue doing scenes that look like we're on the verge of a calamitous comedy of errors all about to spill over into each other.

Did Kit choose the right island or was that trail of clues all a ruse? Can he really weird a machete the size of him? Can the girls "handle" their captors before they get strung up as boobie trap bait? Did they really need anyone's help? Does Kit know their new nemesis is a mere sword swing from slicing them to itty-bitty-bite size pieces? Is this scene about to blow up in unexpected ways? Most importantly, can Wildcat save this entire situation because he's actually our favorite himbo hero?

While Ruckle and Kit are hard-lined and colored, I really wanted to build this piece all at once, rather than by accretion as with the Beach Bar. I struggled with perspective, but there's something about the perspective being slightly off that makes this feel more sequential, almost like a comic strip that's folding in on itself. That inspired me to introduce a panel frame around Kit. Perhaps I'll find one or two other limited opportunities to exercise that. One idea is a follow up field of closeup panels with the reaction of each character to the proceeding second.

I love the idea Wildcat makes the first parry at Ruckle right over Kit's head after say "duck" while Kit turns to see Ruckle while mumbling "that's no duck..." Wildcat could then use his left arm to grab Kit by the Mae West and throw him through the bushes and off the explosive charges in the beach sand. Perhaps he lands right on the red vixen's chest with a blush before getting back to the rescue. I could go on.

One thing I'm proud of is pushing forward with new characters that are my own. All three foxes are concocted for my EU, and even Kit is starting to look different - perhaps another young bear - perhaps Kit's long-lost older brother. I just cannot get past my love of Wildcat being this unassuming guardian angel to all of them - a speech processing impediment belies the fact that he always sees past the immediate situation to really know what to do.

All the tropical foliage is going to be a miserable task - but it'll literally be the edge of credibility. I've got a few Procreate canvases of tropical flora with Latin names, and I will continue my equatorial edification.

This has been a nice break from the Paw Comic and a little excuse to sneak in other obsessions.
