About This Title

There is a BIG post to catch up with Overwriting here.

*scribble scribble scribble*

There is a "BIG" squeeze bottle of ketchup here. ????

Uh, thanks RD...? :)

OH, as an important announcement before everything else, there will be no exclusive on the 7th of October. That is the next exclusive specifically. That is because... IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! So, no exclusive for it, though I'll try and get some kind of nice looking present posted for all to enjoy on that day if possible. Anywho, back to the catch up!

Here it is, finally! I planned on doing this yesterday, but on top of being just a whole lot of stuff on it's own, I wanted to get something new for it as well. So, uh, then this happened? Possibly not canonical with the series. Making it the exclusive for the night felt the correct way to go, since on top of the new stuff, there is also the entirety of the original series there, which for some might be nice to review having seen it before for for possibly many other, the first time seeing it. A WHOLE LOT OF IT. :)

The original series has a very interesting sweet spot in my time drawing. The early photoshop drawing times with my older tablet, some time with the new tablet first with just photoshop and then a bit later a mix of photoshop AND krita, which is my current drawing program. So the art style has some shifts both in look and quality. Even the later ones have a very interesting look to them, since they are juuuust at the point I started to focus on quality for what would be the patreon. Quite the feast! :D

They are only linearts though, I wasn't doing color all that much at the time, didn't really know how to in a timely manor.

There were EIGHT parts to the original series, as well as a single extra. And every part has a mini story on them. So, uh... not gonna post every single story here, that would be a lot. I'll link the originals on my DA though, which will have the story's as well as whatever else I had to say at the time. There some clarification on the rules in the series in there as well, but I'll give a summary of those after the roundup!

Speaking of, in order of appearance we have:

Part 1: OverwritingThis is the very first one, with a very simple but fun starting point. Doesn't even have a sub title yet, since I really didn't know if it would stick around. IT DID. Also, gives a few characteristics for the 'MC' of the series, the overwriter.

Part 2: Overwriting Business to PleasureReally gets the ball rolling. New mechanics discovered and used on a business man with a bad rep. Also only two panels, so the end result has a lot of clauses, but not too big of a change to the person. Well, other then two specific ones. :)

Part 3: Overwriting TakesThe first triple panel one, and it goes quite extreme. This one is very important, as just from the look of it, you might see just how much making this one influenced things from then on. Not just the series, but basically put me on the tracks I've been on since then. Also my fav design for the final from out of all of them by far. :D

Part 4: Overwriting Fit To OutfitWhat I considered the point that really solidified the MC of the series as one of the meanest I have ever had, just completely ruining a perfectly good tomboy. Also I guess the other stuff they do?

Part 5: Overwriting DesperationVery mean MC. That said, the design for this final is also a pretty big fav of mine. No pun intended. :)

Part 6: Teacher To StudentAbout the time when I realise I draw really cute looking teaches, only to change them in some unfortunate way (for them?). In this one, the radical design change has a bit of a story reason instead of just a whim of the MC, so it has a bit of an interesting feel to it. The final for this one was one I liked a lot, so much so that it's the only overwriting that ever got an extra drawing of the character in it, even if that draw is non canonical. It follows a possible path where she just keeps changing to match the instructions. A lot of big and small in that extra. :)

Part 7: Overwriting WorkoutsThis one has quite the jump in style and quality, since skips ahead a month or so of me learning to use krita better. It was also meant to be a triple panel one, but ended up being just the two panels, so the final form is a lot more extreme a change then two panels had been before. Still, a very unique design. It also did the worst out of the entire series, which in turn made me reconsider the series. This gave way to the full plans for an ending I never ended up doing, but also a long delay before the very final of the old series...

Part 8: Overwriting Sexy To CutieThe last of the old series. Also a fairly big story element to it for the MC, setting up... something. As an ending it might be a bit lacking, but the story does have a bit of a turning point for the MC, so who knows, might be relevant if I decide to bring it back up? :)

And that is it for the old series! A bit of a cliff hanger ending, but the time was fairly close the the patreon's startup and by the time I had it all going and I wanted to start fresh. Well, time has passed, it feel fresh once again. :)

So this part is also gigantic and just covers the mechanics of the power. Just skip over if uninterested, it'll be between -'s. :)

So, for the mechanics of the power for those that would want to know, starting with the basics, what happens when you strike out a word in the text box. Nothing. SEEMINGLY. What it actually does is makes the word no longer apply to the scene. Not removed though, even struck out, the word is still there. The next part is adding words and letters to areas struck out. When written under the spots, they doesn't do anything. It's only when connected, either putting them into the text line or more commonly, forced into a spot with a ^. Only when the words are complete AND the ^ is there do the words take effect.

Also important to note, the main text needs to make some kind of sense. Gibberish where you scribble out half the words and add random nonsense that doesn't make a correct sentence will do nothing, even with ^'s. Speelling mistakes and full proper grammar aren't don't matter too much though. That seems mostly fine. :)

The next part is random bubbles with text in them. If you write words or draw images without a bubble, they do nothing. Once closed off though, they take instant effect. If something in them is a 'continuous' effect like being forced to act a specific way or do specific things, then the text box has to stay open for them to work. The moment the text box closes, whatever 'scripts' the text box was forcing them to follow will stop.

Added thoughts and the like end up stuck in the front of the mind, repeating or looping like a song you can't stop thinking about. Text box closed? It stops, and clarity returns. :)

There's also dialog bubbles where they point down to the character from the text box, which causes them to speak about whatever is in them and consistently refer to it.

When the text box closes, all physical changes stay though, those do not go away. So while free to act on their own again, they are still changed. They can find a way to change back or change in a different way, but no automatic return to original form.

Text boxes mostly stay open on their own when they do pop up. This brings up the question, why ever close the text box? The answer is the overwriter has to be near enough to keep it open and they can't have an infinite number of them open. In fact, it's very likely only two or three can be open at once, but at that point, they don't stay open innately and have to be constantly KEPT open. So at that point, they don't even get to interact at all, and can only half heatedly 'watch' the script play out.

It's a whole lot. :)

There's more stuff I never got to show off or explain, but I figure, I'll explain if/when it comes up. But for now, this has been QUITE the post. New exclusive as well as a buffet full of stuff, either a nice refresher to some or completely new, plenty to eat up. :D

The tags for this one post will be... quite something to behold. <_<;

Anywho, enjoy! :)
