shinyheartbeats - HOTEL LEX - FLOOR 5 (14/?)

infoAbout This Title

You pull out the pocket watch and admire its craftsmanship.

Though you had picked it up on a mere whim, it has become your beacon of hope. Now that it no longer works, you feel you would be lost forever. There is no sense to the floors, no separation between realities. One second you're in a stairwell, the next, you're outside at a carnival. You pop open the watch and watch its dial spin about before closing it again. You've decided which direction to go but... You watch Emmett sleeping peacefully. You feel that you can no longer make decisions on your own. Once he wakes up, both of you will decide.

You pull the blankets off you and stand up and yawn. You want to stretch your weary plush legs. You gently cover up Emmett and Bean before walking toward the pillow that Mother left through. You pull back the pillow just enough for you to squeeze through. You blink, light pouring down much brighter than the room you just exited. The space is much larger and you feel like you've shrunk in size. Granted, you didn't really have anything proper for comparison being plushies now. You stand on top of a couch strewn with blankets and pillows that lead down to a large rug. On the opposite side of the room, you see a castle cut out of cardboard with bricks drawn on with Sharpie. A blanket with stars is draped over the side of it and a drawbridge is down over a blue blanket, which you assume as the moat. The door leads into another brightly lit space and you grow curious. You look up to see more fabric and lights dancing beyond its woven patterns. It vividly reminds you of a child's room, which makes perfect sense considering you are toys. You follow the mess of fabric down and across the moat into the cardboard interior.

"Well, howdy there!" a familiar voice calls out. You turn to see Mother sitting at a table with a book in her hand. She's in a smaller cardboard room with shelves that line the wall. A circular rug covers the center of the room where the table sits. The ceiling depicts a solar system with the sun glowing slightly in the middle. You hobble over and climb into the chair the size of you across from her. You look at the book cover and it is titled 'REDWALL.'

"Just a little bit of light readin' before the sun comes up," she says, setting the book down. "So, tell me, y'all good and ready to get a wiggle on?"

You tell her that Emmett is still sleeping, so not yet. You tell her your plan to meet the Timekeeper in hopes of fixing the pocketwatch. She ponders for a moment. "He'd be on the third floor of the Department Store if I'm rememberin' right. That old Department Store is pretty much the main hub for every toy in creation— you can get just about anything a toy's heart could desire. If I were you, I'd think about stoppin' by a storefront or two to pick up a handful of things for the road."

She digs into her pocket and pulls out a handful of tiles which you immediately recognize as domino pieces.

"The numbers on these little dominoes are how we pay for things around here. Take this one here— 6/6. Now if you go and buy yourself, say, a pair of dice for 1/6, the change you'll get back is 5/6. Go on and tuck these away in your pocket now. Consider it a little spending money from me."

You pocket a couple of domino pieces and thank her. You are growing more and more excited to visit the Department store. The kid in you wants to see what the Department Store looks like and kinds of things they have on sale.

"Since you're new 'round these parts, I suggest you take Bean along with you. He knows his way around these parts like the back of his paw—though I'll be the first to tell you, he is a terribly slow shopper. He might go and pull you into a dozen random stores along the way, but he'll get you where you need to go eventually. What do you say, sugar?"

> Take Bean with you.> Adventure by yourselves.
