Juraj Mäsiar - Group Speed Dial 30.0: Recommended badge, Language Switcher, Archive dial, Search upgrade...
About This Title
New version is finally here, but somewhat incomplete and not yet for Firefox! :((until it gets approved for Firefox, you can try these new features in Cloud dials page)
Firefox Recommended badge!Group Speed Dial is getting (once approved) the Recommended badge - this is a BIG deal, there is only ~122 addons with the badge in the whole world!
This will make my addon in Firefox Store 100% secure and privacy friendly, because all releases will be manually reviewed by the Firefox reviewers team!
That being said, I've been contacted by a Firefox reviewer, and due to missing "data collection consent" message, current version of my speed dial is scheduled to be removed from the store on Wednesday (14th October 2026) . At least now we know, the security review process works :).
Don't panic though, new version 30.0 is being reviewed and should be approved any day now!
Language SwitcherThis was a tough one, because browsers manages addons language automatically, and they don't support switching it (so I had to re-implement internationalization engine).
To switch the language, go to Options page / General / Language:
Archiving a dial (PRO)Did you ever wanted to "remove dial", but still have it somewhere - just in case?Introducing Archive dial feature:
Archiving a dial will create new group in the Archive, call it same as the current group, and move the dial there:
If you archive more dials in the same group, they will be moved into that group.Archived groups will automatically use List layout (to fit more dials).
Search upgrade for easier dials managementYou can now activate Select dials feature (form main menu or context menu) while using the search:
Then select all dials you want to manipulate:
Then right click one of them to perform batch operations, like "Cut", "Move to group" or "Delete":
I'll record a video that will show this in action.
Other improvementsThis release also includes:
new icons for your groups/folders/tags (if you are missing some, leave a comment below):
moving dials to Top / Bottom (works only in dynamic layout):
import from Bookmarks - see main menu / Advanced / Import bookmarks:
global Font color settings for groups and dials:
Chrome finally supports "Add this Tab to dial" in the tabs context menu (right click tab):
"Share dials" feature now supports "Export to file" - an offline way to share/backup a part of your dials:
And many more small improvements and fixes. As usual, you will be able to see all changes in the release notes, once Firefox approves it.
What's nextI plan at least two more releases by the end of this year:
30.1 version will fix a "small dials" issue on touch devices, later this week
30.2 will add features I couldn't finish in time for this release - "Links checker", the brand new "Icon layout", themes for groups list, and a new payment method (that won't require Patreon account)
I also plan to finally make those tips and tricks videos! And lastly, I wanted to redesign my 10 years old homepage!Oh, am I putting too much stuff on my plate again?!
Thank you for supporting my workThank you all for helping me do what I love :), which is now not only programming, but also running (for some reason...).
I wish you all a good health and I'll see you soon in the new tutorial videos! :)
Best Regards,Juraj Mäsiar
