About This Title
SKRULLOS STANDARD — 16TH ROTATION, 8TH CYCLE, YEAR 963 OF THE EMPIRETO: THE HIGH PRIEST OF GUISEFROM: VERANKE, SOVEREIGN OF THE SKRULL EMPIRE
You are to be commended, High Priest. Your work on Jessica Drew’s identity has yielded splendid results. Her face secures recognition, and the modest yet scandalously unsubtle revision to her attire has accomplished what entire fleets could scarcely achieve: the willing surrender of the Avengers’ attention.
At their communal table, Earth’s champions discussed concealed fortifications and elaborate safeguards. Yet none thought to question the familiar woman standing among them. They are admirably prepared for enemies arriving from above. Those arriving for dinner seem to encounter considerably less resistance.
Stark has already offered a private audience in his penthouse. Danvers also extended an invitation to her quarters. I find their eagerness to accommodate me most encouraging. Kindly commend the artisans under your charge. Their craftsmanship is opening doors faster than our strategists anticipated.
The deception has proven all but flawless, save for one minor irritant. Parker’s wife appears unsettled by the changes in Drew’s appearance and conduct. She suspects no infiltration, but her unwelcome vigilance may invite scrutiny where none is presently warranted.
Nonetheless, take pride in your handiwork, High Priest. This is certainly the finest veil your adepts have woven.
Earth will be ours. As it is written. He loves us.
