Translator-Sama - Chapter 380: Genetic Life Array

infoAbout This Title

Time ticked by, second by agonizing second, amidst the excruciating pain.

At this point, Lucas could no longer feel the passage of time. Or rather, he had lost all perception of space as well. Everything around him had blurred into a state of pure chaos. It was as if a constantly shrinking sphere was relentlessly crushing him from all sides.

This intense, suffocating pressure pushed Lucas to the absolute brink of his endurance. He didn't bother trying to figure out the exact physics of what was causing this sensation; he only knew one thing—he had to break through this limit, or he would be crushed to death!

Within his mind's eye, Lucas exerted every ounce of his willpower to compress his body's energy inward, visualizing himself collapsing into a single, infinitely dense singularity. It was similar to the visualization techniques used in ancient meditation, but Lucas wasn't just imagining it—he was physically manifesting it.

Under his absolute focus, his previously scattering consciousness began to coalesce. Although this hyper-focus made the physical agony even more acute, it granted him a sliver of control over his failing body.

Guided by his sheer will, the boundless energy throughout his body rapidly condensed into the very core of his cells. Under continuous compression, these microscopic cores effectively turned into localized "bombs."

Once they had absorbed enough energy, the condensed mass violently detonated.

Like a miniature Big Bang, the outer shells of all of Lucas's cells were instantaneously obliterated, causing his own majestic energy to violently collide and fuse with the invading power of the stellar core.

At that exact moment, Lucas finally lost consciousness.

"Quick, get him down!" Eitri roared.

But Hela was already moving. In a flash, she rushed forward and tore Lucas's charred, nearly carbonized body from the restraints.

Large chunks of blackened, hardened crust flaked off Lucas's body, hitting the metal floor with distinct, sharp clacks. Beneath the charred armor, raw, partially healed skin tissue was exposed.

"Is he alright?!" Eitri asked, rushing over in a panic.

"He's fine. He won't die," Hela replied calmly.

Hela could sense it: Lucas's life force was incredibly faint, but it showed no signs of extinguishing. On the contrary, like a single spark igniting a prairie fire, it was beginning to rapidly flare up and burn with terrifying vitality.

The severe wounds on Lucas's body began to heal at a visible rate. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open, a brilliant flash of golden light darting through his pupils.

"Put me down," Lucas rasped, his voice rough.

Hela nodded and gently set him on his feet.

Then, Lucas's body trembled slightly. The remaining charred crust completely shattered into fine dust and drifted away, revealing brand-new, fair skin with a healthy, faint pink hue. If one looked closely, they could even see faint traces of golden light flowing just beneath the surface of his skin.

Compared to his previous physique, his height had increased to 1.95 meters. His muscle mass had visibly expanded, yet it maintained a perfectly optimal, streamlined proportion.

And then there was his lower back—a furry, brown tail swayed gently. As he casually flicked it, the tail blurred into an afterimage, generating a terrifying sonic boom in the dense air of the forge.

In the next second, the Red Lantern Ring materialized on his left hand. With a flash of crimson light, a set of red clothing materialized to cover his bare body.

"Was it a success?" Lucas asked, turning to Dwarf King Eitri.

"It was. Now for the final step: you need to personally break open the mold," Eitri nodded.

"I suppose I don't need to ask how you're feeling," Hela remarked, looking Lucas up and down.

"Never better!" Lucas replied with a fierce grin.

The three of them quickly approached the mold. After two Dwarves carefully lowered the semi-cooled cast, Eitri gestured toward it. "Now, since this will be your weapon, you must open it yourself."

Lucas nodded. He stepped forward and raised his arm, but instead of forming a fist, he simply placed a single finger gently against the mold.

In the next second, Lucas's entire body gave a subtle tremble.

Instantly, a massive network of spiderweb-like cracks spidered across the solid stone block. With a dull boom, the heavy mold disintegrated entirely into fine powder, revealing the freshly forged weapon sealed within.

Both Eitri and Hela showed distinct looks of surprise.

The heavy stone block had been turned to dust with just a light tap of a finger! It was crucial to note that Lucas hadn't channeled a single ounce of energy or ki into that strike; he had relied purely on raw, physical kinetic force.

It was an advanced application of the martial arts concept of the 'one-inch punch'. That subtle tremble was actually Lucas perfectly coordinating forty percent of his body's total muscle mass into a single, devastating impact.

The mold's stone material far exceeded the durability of ordinary metals; it was excavated from the exact same cosmic veins as Uru metal itself. Shattering it into dust using pure brute force went entirely against everything the Dwarves knew to be possible. Even a god using divine power or a heavy weapon would normally only crack it.

At this display, the surrounding Dwarves looked at the man with profound intrigue and immense respect.

Soon, a pair of flowing, silver gauntlets lay revealed before Lucas.

They didn't feature any exaggerated, bulky auxiliary mechanisms, nor were there any flashy, gaudy details. They were simply a pair of sleek, elegant silver gauntlets. There were no embossed patterns, no embedded gemstones, and even with Lucas's incredible vision, he couldn't detect a single magical rune array carved into the surface.

They were purely, monotonously silver.

Lucas stepped forward and slipped his hands into them. Instantly, the armor hummed, shrinking and molding perfectly to seamlessly fit his forearms and hands. Then, visible lines of radiant light began to flow across the gauntlets' surface, pulsing rhythmically like human blood vessels.

A moment later, the gauntlets vanished entirely from sight.

Clenching his fists, Lucas couldn't feel any external weight or obstruction at all. It felt exactly as if he were just moving his own bare hands.

"During the forging process, these gauntlets absorbed the blood, tissue, and energy that sloughed off your body in the beam," Eitri explained with a sigh of awe. "Therefore, they can seamlessly merge directly into your skin, completely invisible to the naked eye. Whenever you need them, they will materialize with a single thought."

Lucas tested the summoning. With a mere thought, the two silver gauntlets instantly reappeared on his hands. However, they were no longer a metallic silver. They had taken on the exact tone and texture of Lucas's skin, distinguished only by the faintly glowing energy lines pulsing across them.

"This is incredible!"

Lucas could sense it: whenever he channeled his energy into the gauntlets, the flow speed, conversion efficiency, and raw output power were all drastically amplified. This was due to an unfathomably complex, miraculous runic energy array actively operating within the metal.

Furthermore, this array was perfectly concealed. If Lucas's energy hadn't flowed directly through it, he never would have noticed its existence.

"That is your Genetic Life Array. I did not carve it in there," Eitri shrugged, seeing Lucas's realization.

"What is a Genetic Life Array?" Lucas asked, thoroughly confused.
