About This Title

I've updated Hsin Mod a minute ago and if you had issues with it, may be it will get those sorted out! Although I still advise you to acknowledge what's going on here and read this. So let's see the main reason why for a few of you some of your mods are not working anymore : Ticking UHD game textures.3.7 implemented a whole new split for the game's assets. To be honest it's another plague to handle from a creator POV. So there's SD textures (mainly for smartphones), HD textures (most of pc's) and UHD textures (for high end config with at least 4k screens). You can choose and tick that in the official game launcher but let's have a quick discussion about which is the smartest choice for a modded wuthering waves. To me, picking HD is the way to go. UHD sounds nice at first and I personally have a UHD screen to play wuwa (the same I use for my illustrator job) but that might just be me and you shooting our own foot and I'll try to explain you why. Most of mod creators from beginners to veterans will make their mod circling the HD environnement, because the proportions are exactly the same for creators as they are among users : you have way more probabilities to fall on someone creating mods with a HD game config than a UHD one. During mod creation those creators will take their favourite way to manage the LOD issues, there are some easy and some complexe ways but guess what? none are perfect, not even mine and it's extremely difficult for those to handle both HD and UHD boxes. For those who have troubles some mods will appear to work as intended and this will be in most case because the creator was natively creating a mod in the same or similar config as your device/settings not caring about anyone else.So what's 3.7 version is changing? Well, compared to before we now have another LOD complication : Now those 3 presets of the game (SD/HD/UHD) are working independently from each other on the texture matter. They're like boxes that barely communicate with each others. From my end and with my custom mod LOD handling this means another whole day of work to cover UHD. So it pisses me off, badly. But as always I shall try to gather everything and make my mods as compatible as I can with both UHD and HD. At the moment I write those line only Hsin I just uploaded handle both. But that doesn't mean every creator will sweat as much as I do or that every LOD technic will keep up on the long run. Remember you will potentially find a lot of good mods made by amateurs/beginners that won't ever cover those sensitive LOD cases so it's up to you to "stir wide" or not.And most important point : I assume you fear of lacking somekind of quality by picking HD over UHD. First of all HD also has 2048x2048 textures, it's not exclusive to UHD and it's the maximum that this game can provide. The only difference is UHD will have it for secondary objects, weapons, npc's and background. Only 10-20% will be exclusive 2048² textures on your characters and almost only those on alternative forms (like Hsin goddess or fox animal form). And at the end of the day what does a character mod do aside from the 3D model changes? Well, it will replace game's textures with the texture its creator worked only for that object. If a mod is worked with 1080p ones you will end up with 1080p content no matter how much you've dreamt your "UHD" settings will magically turn them into 2048x2048, it won't ever be happening. At best you'll have those 2048² textures everywhere else but not on your modded character. Your character will remain on less accurate textures that might differs in quality depending of the creator you took them from. It might even feels off at some point because lower res texture on character compared to a more detailed background feels extremely weird, no video games does that. It's pretty much the opposite that happens which feels "natural" to your brain because your focus point is more accurate than what's around it. Yes, I would be happy if every user and every mod creators had a UHD settings/screen to run only UHD mods and forget about HD but it's not the case and still won't be for years. Lastly keep in mind that if almost all your characters are modded, the highest chances are you'll have the biggest part of them with lower res texture than what a perfect 2048² creating visual dissonances. The more you'll get different mods from different creators, the more things will tend to that.

So from now I'll tell you "pick UHD at your own risks". May be it will change later, may be people will adapt or we'll have more solution coming but today it's problematic. In the meantime I'm always working in 2048² and I'll try to keep my new mods supported but I won't ever advise to embrace this game option because it's just not right considering the general Wuthering Waves modding experience. Thanks for reading it all and take care my dear carrot soldiers!
