Hey everyone!
Those of you guys who are fans of my Koi Hotel series are gonna enjoy this new battle map. Welcome to the Koi Hotel Bar, where the drinks are expensive, the clientele are dangerous, and a quiet night out can turn into a bloodbath in seconds.
I think the series is pretty well fleshed out now and if you haven’t already, you should set up a story arc that will lead your players to the Koi Hotel on multiple occasions to accomplish their goals, be it an assassination of a crime boss or to set up business exchanges. This will give them a chance to explore all the areas I’ve detailed out thus far.
This bar itself is rather self-explanatory, so let’s take a look at the map variants.
Map VariantsThe PianistNot every corner of the Koi Hotel Bar is soaked in violence. Tucked into the lounge is a small performance area, complete with a gleaming grand piano. On select nights, a pianist accompanied by a female vocalist entertains the hotel's well-heeled guests.
But in a place like this, entertainment is rarely just entertainment. The pair might have witnessed a crime, overheard a conversation meant to remain private, or possess information that could make them valuable informants — assuming the players can convince them to talk.
Bar BrawlSometimes, a night at the bar ends in absolute chaos. Tables are overturned for cover, broken glass litters the floor, and bullet holes scar the furnishings as damaged LED lights flicker overhead. Whatever sparked the violence, the lounge has become a war zone.
Three variants. Three different stories. One very bad place to be caught after dark.
Whether your players are investigating a murder, navigating the dangerous world of the Japanese Yakuza, gathering intelligence from the hotel's performers, or fighting their way through a full-blown lounge massacre, The Koi Hotel Bar is ready for your next encounter.
Just remember to watch your back. In this part of town, a luxury setting doesn't mean you're safe.
Death of the VIP & Sword VariantSomething has gone horribly wrong in the hotel's private room. A male figure lies dead on the couch with a gunshot wound to the chest. But who wanted him dead, and what secrets did he take with him?
For the alternate version, we're leaning further into the Japanese Yakuza theme established throughout my previous maps. The couch is marked with vicious sword slashes, while a samurai sword remains embedded in the VIP's chest. It's a brutal scene that feels right at home in the Koi Hotel's criminal underworld — and perhaps a message to anyone foolish enough to cross the wrong people.
