About This Title

Hi everyone!

It has been a month since the release of update 5.2, and we have managed to get quite a lot done during this time. We have made good progress on the new Episode 6.0, but we also had some time to clear our heads, think about the project, and draw some conclusions.

Even though we have been working really hard on the new scenes, we also managed to get some rest. After releasing an update, you naturally get a little more breathing room, and it gave us a chance to step back and look at everything with a fresh mind.

So I would like to start this post with a small digression and a final summary of some things I have been thinking about. After that, we will move on to the new stuff - what we managed to achieve this month and what we are planning next.

Recently, I have been thinking a lot about the whole project and how it all started.

For some of you, SoD might just be another AVN. For me, however, it started as a small hobby project that eventually turned into my full-time job and completely changed my life - I left my job as a firefighter, which I had planned to do for basically my entire future, and I also completely changed the way I spend my days. I am obviously very grateful for that. I actually liked my previous job, but I am also very happy that I can do what I am doing now, so I take this project very seriously.

At the same time, it is not like I had everything planned from the very beginning. When I started, it was supposed to be a small hobby project with a simple story outline and some adult scenes. As I learned new things, however, new ideas started appearing. The quality of the renders improved, more storylines were added, and your support allowed us to develop the project even further and invest more money into things that otherwise would probably never have been possible.

Of course, for the last two years I have had the overall story planned in my head. But that doesn't mean we don't make mistakes.

With every update, we realize that there are things we could have done differently, things we could have improved, or things we could have handled better. That doesn't mean we are going to go back and remake old scenes. We know that doing that would slow down an already fairly slow development process even more. So instead, we live with our older mistakes, try not to repeat them, and learn from them.

Until now, we have also tried to keep the progression fairly balanced and look for a middle ground. I realize that Episode 5.2 was probably quite different from that. It had a lot more extreme reactions - people either really liked it or really didn't. That was not exactly what I intended, and I know it could have been handled better. I have taken those lessons to heart, and we will keep them in mind going forward.

Another thing I want to mention: I know that my comments, replies and posts are often quite sarcastic, and because of that, some people see them as negative. I guess developers are supposed to be serious people.

I'm not.

But I can assure you that calling you filthy bastards in the last post was purely a joke.

There are also a few Quality of Life things we have on our list:

Route indicators — something that will tell you which route you are currently on, whether it is the truth/cheating route with Mike, the blackmail route, the friendly/rivalry route with Madison, or other routes, as well as information about possible endings.

Unlocking gallery scenes — we want to give you a way to unlock previously locked scenes in the gallery without having to play the entire game again. We are still figuring out exactly how this will work, but we will find a solution.

Official walkthroughs — for the story, possible endings and achievements.

I probably forgot about a few other things, but we will keep working on improving the overall Quality of Life in SoD.

One last small thing: we are still having problems with the German translation. Our volunteer translator basically disappeared into thin air, so unfortunately I cannot give you an exact estimate for when the missing German translation will be completed.

Now we can finally move on to the new information about Episode 6.0.

The main focus of this update will be expanding the new part of the bar and the scenes connected to it. This includes the long-awaited and frequently requested glory hole, with an expanded minigame, as well as some other scenes around the bar.

Both Episode 6.0 and the following Episode 6.1 will also serve as a kind of continuation and payoff for the choices you have made so far.

Episode 6.2 and Episode 7.0 will then put much more focus on the endings you are currently heading towards. Of course, many scenes will still overlap between the different routes, with bigger or smaller changes depending on your choices.

Episode 6.0 will also expand several additional storylines - the weekly scene with Wyatt will finally get its conclusion, we will expand the sauna scenes - we actually remade them from scratch and they look much better now - and we will also continue the storyline in the park.

One of the things I would really like to achieve this year is to finish writing the scripts for the entire game. We probably won't manage to do it, because there is still quite a lot left to write, but having a complete written version of the game would be a personal milestone for me.

I already know what we still want to add, but having an actual number - for example, knowing that there are around 40 scenes left until the end of the game - would give me an extra push and also make things easier mentally, because I would be able to clearly see the finish line.

And honestly, that is roughly how many scenes we have left to create until the end of the game.

At the moment, we are looking at a final update somewhere around the end of 2027 / beginning of 2028. I won't tell you what comes after that yet, because that is still a long way away. But I can already tell you that it definitely won't be my final word on SoD.

I don't want to jinx anything, because whenever I say that things are going well, something usually happens.

But we have really done a lot of work this month.

I am very happy with how the new scenes are looking visually, and we have already started working on the first animations as well, so everything is starting to pick up speed. I won't give you a specific release date for the next update just yet, but it will definitely be at the beginning of next year, most likely in February. I am secretly hoping that we can finish it a little faster, but the last thing I want to do is put extra pressure on myself or the team. As always, though, we never completely stop working. So as soon as we finish this update, we will immediately start working on the next one.

That's all for now!
