The Nutnfancy Project - Hunting Galaxies on TNP Range Vol 2: Two S50s, Full Moon, Coyotes, Deer, Nebula Wins
About This Title
The response with my "Hunting Galaxies" Vol 1 was adequate and have had more Patreon requests to show more of my astronomy process. So here we go on this crystal clear night on the TNP gun range after a long work session. But hold on there cowboy, clear and ain't enough. We need DARK, like really dark. We don't have that tonight due to a full moon which I talk about. This essentially blocks off 1/2 of the wide open sky for "attack."
But we don't give up. Running both a ZWO Seestar S50 Gen 1 codenamed "Hilux" and my newer S50 PRO codenamed "Maximus,: we do have some tools at our disposable. Understand this is simple astronomy at its best and I'm a hack. I currently don't have interest in a complicated, hard-to-set-up and use astrophotography system. The S50 is it for me. I may seem too simple to you. But as we persist through an acceptable nebula target list you might be surprised at the result.
Interspersed you'll see and hear some of my on-land wildlife: snow geese flying, coyotes, and deer. One of my twins (yearlings) is injured, don't know how, and I show her on my AGM Sidewinder Thermal. I am feeding and watching out for her. We eventually take it to the house, watching some Bond (might break out my rants on this Skyfall movie later), and we monitor the progress on the final targets: PRO- IC 1318 Gamma Cygni emission complex, roughly 4,000 light-years from Earth S50 Gen 1- NGC 6888 Crescent Nebula. These are low luminosity targets but watch the integration.
I'll end showing you just a few of my other work in the galaxies for this fun, diverse TNP video. Brought to you by my paying donors.

MY ACTUAL STAR LOG, KEPT FOR EVERY SESSION: 26 Oct 2026 another rough night for imaging due to bright full-moon, only Southern sky really open to attack, about 38° overnight with dew heater on, 10 SEC, several failed targets due to bright moon, including heart nebula, VIDEO FOR TNP, BOTH S50s RUNNING 1st time worked well, S50 STD “HIGHLUX”: NGC 6888 Crescent Nebula 91 min acceptable result, good detail shown on upper right; Maximus: using SkyAtlas overhead app, I found the following and attacked it:”Part of the IC 1318 Gamma Cygni emission complex, roughly 4,000 light-years from EarthỊạị just north of Sadr (Gamma Cygni), centered around roughly RA 20h27m, Dec +40°28′. That puts your frame squarely in the huge IC 1318 / Gamma Cygni emission-nebula complex, commonly called the Sadr Region or Butterfly Nebula complex, really excellent result, though not overly bright, high detail shown in the hydrogen dust lanes, beautiful orange color, with only light modification, orange-red hydrogen emission is extensive, the dark lanes carve through the field beautifully, and there are multiple layers of structure instead of one bright “object.” shows audience that astrophotography does not have to produce a screaming-bright nebula; pivots [not shown]: Hilux: NGC 281W barely acceptable result after 83 min, very dark; Maximus: IC 417 barely acceptable result after 139 min
