ARubberDucky - My Roommate Is a Futanari — v1.3.9 Development Update!
About This Title
Hey everyone!
It's time for another development update for My Roommate Is a Futanari!
I've been putting a ridiculous number of hours into the game lately, and version 1.3.9 is shaping up to be one of the biggest updates so far!
What started as a relatively simple visual novel has gradually been turning into something much more ambitious. I've been working on making the world feel more alive, giving players more freedom, introducing new gameplay systems, and, of course, continuing Haru and Miyuki's story.
There's quite a bit to cover, so let's get into it!
Main Story — Now Through Chapter 09!First things first: the main storyline has been expanded all the way through Chapter 09!
That's two additional chapters compared to v1.2!
The story continues exploring Haru's new college life, his relationships with the people around him, and the increasingly unusual situations he finds himself in.
I've also been spending more time on character interactions, dialogue, and the overall presentation of story scenes.
I won't spoil the actual events here, but there's plenty more to discover!
Main story highlights:
New story content covering Chapters 08 and 09.
More character development and conversations.
Additional interactions between Haru, Miyuki, and other characters.
More choices and branching story content.
Continued improvements to scene presentation and pacing.
And don't worry, Chapter 09 is definitely not the end of the story!
A Second Male Route Has Been Added! This is another major addition!
The game now features a second male route, giving players another way to experience Haru's story.
One of my goals has been to make the player's decisions feel more meaningful instead of having every choice eventually lead to exactly the same outcome.
With this addition, I'm expanding the game's branching narrative structure and laying the groundwork for more route-specific scenes and developments.
This also means I have a lot more possibilities for future content!
I want different routes to feel genuinely worthwhile, with their own character interactions, developments, and consequences rather than simply changing a few lines of dialogue.
There's still a lot of room to expand these paths, but v1.3.9 is an important step in that direction.
A Much More Interesting Smartphone!I've also been putting a lot of work into the in-game smartphone.
Rather than having a phone that's only useful for checking a schedule or reading a few messages, I want it to become a meaningful part of everyday gameplay.
The expanding phone system includes improvements to its interface, navigation, and connected applications.
Some of the areas I've been working on include:
Better app navigation and presentation.
Expanded shopping functionality.
Banking and money-related interfaces.
Improved app layouts and visual consistency.
More ways to interact with the game's world through the phone.
I've also been developing the foundations for additional apps, including social and dating features.
There's a lot of potential here, especially for future optional events and character interactions.
HoshiMarket, AfterDark & Online Shopping! The game's online shopping experience has also been expanded!
HoshiMarket and AfterDark are part of my plans to make the in-game economy more interesting and give players more reasons to earn and spend money.
The idea is that shopping shouldn't simply be a decorative feature.
Eventually, the items you purchase could influence activities, unlock interactions, provide gifts for characters, or become relevant during optional events.
I've been refining the shopping interfaces and their integration with the phone and other game systems.
There's still plenty I want to expand here, but I'm happy with the direction things are heading!
More Interactive Locations & Exploration!Another major focus has been improving how players interact with the environment.
I don't want every room to feel like a static background with a couple of navigation buttons.
The goal is to make places like Haru's apartment, the library, college, and other locations feel like environments you can actually interact with.
Recent work includes:
Improved navigation gradients and directional chevrons.
Contextual interaction indicators for objects and activities.
Clearer visual feedback for clickable areas.
More consistent location interactions.
Better integration between exploration and everyday activities.
For example, being able to interact with a chair, study at a desk, or use an object directly from the environment makes exploration feel much more natural.
These are the kinds of smaller improvements that I think will make a big difference as the game continues growing.
More UI, Visual & Audio Improvements!I've been revisiting a lot of the game's interface elements to make everything more consistent.
Since I'm still relatively new to game development, quite a few of the earlier systems were built while I was learning how everything works.
That means I've also been spending time improving things I originally thought were good enough!
Recent work has focused on:
More consistent purple and lavender UI styling.
Improved dialogue and interaction menus.
Cleaner buttons and hover effects.
Better text readability and spacing.
Smartphone interface improvements.
Character sprite positioning and presentation.
Refinements to environmental interactions.
Continued work on animations, visual effects, and sound design.
A lot of these improvements might not sound particularly exciting on paper, but they make the overall experience feel much more polished.
What's Coming Next? There's still an enormous amount I want to add to the game!
Some of my priorities include:
More story and route content
Continue Haru's main story and further expand the different narrative paths.
Additional optional character encounters
More opportunities to meet characters, develop relationships, and discover unique scenes outside the main storyline.
Expanded dating and messaging systems
More interactive conversations, potential matches, and optional dates with characters.
More meaningful activities
Additional things to do around the apartment, college, and town, ideally tied into character progression and existing gameplay systems.
More world-building
Additional locations, character schedules, interactions, and little details that make the world feel alive.
The long-term goal is to create a visual novel where the story, exploration, relationships, and everyday gameplay all connect naturally.
I know that's ambitious, but I've really been enjoying figuring out how to make it happen!
A Huge Thank You to My Supporters!I also want to say a massive thank you to everyone supporting me here on Patreon.
Your support genuinely helps make projects like this possible.
I've been creating comics for quite some time, but developing an actual game has been a completely different experience.
There's so much to learn, and I've definitely run into my fair share of frustrating bugs and unexpected problems along the way!
Still, seeing everything slowly come together has been incredibly rewarding.
I'm really excited about where My Roommate Is a Futanari is heading, and I hope you'll enjoy everything I've been working on.
I'd Love Your Feedback! As always, I'm interested in hearing what you think!
Are you more excited about the new story chapters or the additional gameplay systems?
What do you think about having multiple story routes?
Which characters would you like to see receive more optional events?
Are there any features, activities, or locations you'd particularly like added?
Feel free to leave your ideas in the comments!
I'm always looking for ways to improve the game, and your feedback helps me decide what to prioritize.
Thank you again for being here and supporting my work!
