Robert Downey Jr. seemingly confirms that Daniel Adler and Margot Robbie are married during his Best Actor acceptance speech at the #GoldenGlobes:

“He’s on a couch somewhere, probably wrapped in a blanket, being looked after by his lovely new wife.”

cass @cassites_ · Jan 6

WAIT. WIFE?? He said WIFE. So they’re married??? When did this happen???

Jordan @joanfan · Jan 6

The whole ballroom went “wife?” at the same time, and you can hear it on the mic

cass @cassites_ · Jan 6

RDJ really just announced the Adler/Robbie wedding at the Golden Globes on live TV with a trophy in his hand.

==========

Miken @mikecu · Jan 6

Y’all are acting like Robert Downey Jr. isn’t the biggest troll in Hollywood.

kay @kayblynn · Jan 6

RDJ is a troll, but he’s not going to troll about his friend’s wedding status on live TV. He slipped. Look at Paul Knight’s face when the camera cuts to their table.

==========

zainab @zainabzzz · Jan 6

Jake Snyder was right?? He literally got laughed off this app for saying they’d be married within a week back in December. And now RDJ just confirmed it???

Tyler @tyleriews_ · Jan 6

I hate this. I hate that Jake Snyder, of all people, was right about something.

TheMovieGossipGuy @gossipguy_ · Jan 6

Snyder’s going to be insufferable about this for the next five years.

Jake Snyder @TheInSnyder · Jan 6

Told you.

ella @ellaeads · Jan 6

The “told you” He’s been waiting a MONTH for this.

marcus @marcuts · Jan 6

A broken clock is right twice a day. This man also said the wedding was in Fiji and that Adler was at a strip club in Bangkok.

Jake Snyder @TheInSnyder · Jan 6

Still standing by Bangkok.

==========

Robbie Updates @RobbieUpdates · Jan 6

Not confirmed by Margot or Daniel’s teams yet. Please don’t flood their pages. We’ll update as soon as there’s an official statement.

That being said...

lia @liaxrobbie · Jan 6

I’m just so happy for them, honestly. They’ve been together for years, and they’ve managed to keep their wedding completely private in an era where nothing is private. Good for them.

jess @jessjessjess · Jan 6

They’ve been through so much together. The hacking stuff, the penthouse thing, that insane snark sub guy. They deserve this.

==========

nina @ninawms · Jan 6

Okay, but WHERE did they get married?? When?? Who was there??? I need details.

Brodie @brodie_oz · Jan 6

It has to be Australia. They’ve got that huge estate up on the Gold Coast, and Margot’s whole family is there. No way she got married anywhere else.

sophia @sophi45e · Jan 6

Remember that blurry photo from Byron Bay in December that everyone said was fake? The one where you could see a white tent on the beach?

Brodie @brodie_oz · Jan 6

BYRON BAY. That’s it. That’s where it was. The locals did mention a big wedding at an estate there.

nina @ninawms · Jan 6

Wait, but Byron Bay is in NSW, not Queensland.

Brodie @brodie_oz · Jan 6

It’s like an hour from the border, mate. Close enough.

==========

Rachel K. @rachkaye · Jan 6

It’s so hard to keep track of anything with these two because they barely post. Margot’s last Instagram post was in OCTOBER for Suicide Squad. Adler hasn’t posted anything personal since the Suicide Squad premiere. The only reason we know this now is because RDJ got emotional after winning a Golden Globe. That’s the only leak in this whole operation.

==========

Pop Hive @PopHiveNews · Jan 7

UPDATE: A representative for Daniel Adler and Margot Robbie has declined to comment on reports that the couple are married following Robert Downey Jr.’s remarks at the #GoldenGlobes.

zainab @zainabzzz · Jan 7

“Declined to comment” is a yes. That is a yes. Everyone knows that’s a yes.

Miken @mikecu · Jan 7

Fine. I’ll admit it. He wasn’t trolling. Congrats to them.

Adler is the luckiest son of a bitch on the planet. I'm never really jealous of celebs, but damn, that's a good setup. And he got the Tumbler too.

What I love most is that it actually looks LIVED IN. Most of these AD houses look like nobody’s ever touched a cushion. This one looks like a home.

We need to know more about Bart. Who is the other bird? Where is she now? Does Bart have legal representation for the divorce? I’m invested.

For the record, that’s a pale-headed rosella, or possibly a noisy miner, from the shot at 6:12. Hard to tell from the angle. If it’s a noisy miner, Bart is not the victim here. Those things are menaces.

They said they saved a little girl in the Tumbler and just moved on like it’s normal. That was a real news story, btw. A six-year-old went missing near their property, and they found her while driving the Batmobile.

Jake Morrison · 2 days ago

Unpopular opinion, but this is kind of obscene? 800 acres, an underground garage, a Batmobile, all while people are struggling to pay rent. Every one of these AD videos is just billionaires flexing.

Mikey Fontaine · 2 days ago

It’s literally a show about celebrity houses. What did you expect, a studio apartment tour?

Zoe Clarke · 2 days ago

The ending with the hill opening and the Tumbler launching off the ramp and down the road. Whoever edited this video deserves a raise. AD has never been this cinematic.

Ben Ortiz · 2 days ago

Pretty sure Adler edited it himself. The man can’t help it.

Well, I think we finally know who bought Sidney Nolan’s First-class marksman

Has anyone watched Margot Robbie and Daniel Adler’s Architectural Digest house tour?

At around the four-minute mark, Margot stops in front of the painting above the fireplace in their family lounge and introduces it as “a Sidney Nolan, from his Ned Kelly series.” I nearly dropped my tea because it’s First-class marksman. The actual 1946 painting.

For anyone who hasn’t been following this, First-class marksman is the odd one out of Nolan’s first Kelly series. It’s the only one of the 27 original panels that didn’t end up in a public collection. It set the Australian auction record when it sold in 2010 to an anonymous phone bidder, and apart from the occasional rumour, it’s barely been seen by the public since.

Then, late last year, word got around that it had quietly changed hands again in a private sale. Nobody would say who the buyer was.

Then, a few months ago, came the exciting part: the new owners had apparently agreed to lend it for a touring exhibition. That would put it on public display for the first time in years, alongside the rest of the series, no less.

Everyone I know in the sector has been guessing ever since. A mining family? A Melbourne collector? A foundation?

Turns out it was hanging over a fireplace in Adler and Robbie’s house.

So I guess we found out who bought it.

u/Modbourne

I genuinely laughed out loud when I saw it.

We’ve spent the better part of a year speculating about the new owners. There were whole threads on this sub.

u/ArtHistoryAU · OP · replies

The spreadsheet guy is going to be devastated. “Hollywood couple” wasn’t even on the list.

u/Nolector

I wasn’t expecting them either. There were rumours about a couple of established Australian collectors, and one about a Hong Kong buyer, but I never heard anyone mention Adler or Robbie. Which, in hindsight, is a bit silly. She’s from Queensland, they’ve got an 800-acre estate here, and he has more money than most small countries.

u/Modbourne · replies

And he’s the type to buy something just because his wife likes it.

u/ConsCat

Am I the only one who noticed it’s hanging directly ABOVE A WORKING FIREPLACE?

That’s Ripolin enamel on hardboard from 1946. Heat, smoke, humidity swings. Every conservator in the country watched that and felt their eye twitch.

u/ArtHistoryAU · OP · replies

I had the same reaction, but I think they just brought it out for the video.

u/Bushraues

Can we talk about the fact that Daniel Adler called Ned Kelly “some kind of vigilante” while standing in front of one of the most important paintings of him ever made?

u/kelntry · replies

And then followed it up with “this whole country started out as a prison.”

Like, mate.

u/Accesrt

I’m going to be a bit of a wet blanket here. One of the most significant paintings in Australian art history being held privately by a Hollywood billionaire isn’t great.

It belongs in a public collection with the rest of the series, where anyone can see it.

u/Nolector · replies

I get the principle, but they’re LENDING it for a public tour. The previous owner kept it hidden for nearly a decade. These two bought it and almost immediately agreed to put it in front of the public.

That’s a better outcome than we had.

u/Accesrt · replies

A loan is still a loan. It goes back to the lounge room when the tour’s over.

u/pracatron · replies

Most of the great collections in our public galleries started as private collections that someone eventually gave away. Give them a few decades.

u/Accesrt · replies

Fair. If it ends up at the NGA in thirty years, I’ll eat my words.

I THINK I’VE FIGURED OUT HOW ADLER REALLY GOT THE SIDNEY NOLAN PAINTING. IT INVOLVES AN INTERNATIONAL ART SMUGGLING RING.

[LONG POST. PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING BEFORE COMMENTING. I MEAN IT.]

Okay.

I’ve spent the last three days looking into this. I’ve barely slept. I think I’ve stumbled onto something much bigger than anyone realizes.

Right now, everyone is celebrating Daniel Adler and Margot Robbie for buying Sidney Nolan’s First-class marksman and “generously” agreeing to loan it out for a public tour. The media is calling them visionary collectors. Art historians are falling over themselves to praise them. The Australian art subreddit is treating them like national heroes.

But there’s one question NOBODY seems interested in asking.

WHERE DID THE PAINTING ACTUALLY COME FROM?

Let’s go back to the beginning. First-class marksman sold in 2010 to an anonymous phone bidder. Record price. And then it disappeared. For nearly a DECADE, almost nobody saw it. It was never loaned out. It was never donated. It was never exhibited. The only painting in the entire series not in a public collection, and the owner just... sat on it.

Why?

I’ll tell you what the art world won’t. For years, there have been whispers that the painting was STOLEN from its original owner at some point after the sale. That the collector who bought it in 2010 quietly lost it and never reported it, because reporting it would have meant answering questions they didn’t want to answer.

That’s why it was never donated. That’s why it was never shown. You can’t loan out a painting you don’t have anymore.

And then, late last year, it suddenly “changes hands in a private sale.” No buyer named. No price disclosed. No paperwork anyone has seen.

Late last year.

Do you know where Daniel Adler was late last year?

BANGKOK.

JAKE SNYDER WAS RIGHT.

Remember Jake Snyder’s photographs from Thailand?

Of course you do.

Everyone laughed at him. He was called a liar, an obsessive, a lunatic. People made memes about him. Then RDJ confirmed the wedding Jake predicted, and suddenly everyone went very quiet. Funny how that works.

So let’s revisit those photographs, shall we?

[Image 1: Blurry photograph of several men leaving a Bangkok tattoo parlour at night.]

Look at the tall man in the sunglasses.

That is Daniel Adler.

I don’t care what anyone says. The height matches. The build matches. The way he stands matches. I have watched over FORTY HOURS of red carpet footage to study the way this man stands, and I am telling you, that is his posture.

“But his face looks completely different!”

Yes.

BECAUSE HE’S WEARING A MASK.

We are talking about a man who has spent his entire adult life in Hollywood. His company employs some of the best prosthetic makeup artists on the planet. You seriously think he couldn’t commission a disguise?

The face in that photo is swollen and distorted because the mask was DESIGNED to make him look like someone else. And honestly? It’s not even particularly good work. For a billionaire, I expected better.

And who is standing beside him?

At first, everyone thought he was Danny DeVito. I thought so too. But after some research, I believe I’ve identified him.

His name is Ongo Gablogian.

Remember that name.

WHO IS ONGO GABLOGIAN?

This is Ongo Gablogian.

He is a mysterious art collector who has been associated with extremely wealthy clients and questionable transactions. I spent HOURS looking for information on this man. Here is what I found:

He does not appear to operate through a traditional gallery. There are almost no official records of his business dealings. No corporate website. No accessible financial history.

Does that sound like a legitimate art dealer to you?

Or does it sound like someone who has gone to great lengths NOT to leave a paper trail?

I also found several online references connecting Gablogian to unusual art transactions and suspected criminal activity. One forum discussion described him, and I’m quoting directly, as “a possible art thief and a fraud.”

Unfortunately, the website where I found that is no longer accessible.

Make of that what you will.

Now look at this photograph again.

[Image 3: Enlarged, heavily pixelated crop of the short man in Bangkok, with three red circles around his head.]

That’s Gablogian.

The resemblance is unmistakable. The height. The face. The glasses. The general shape.

“He isn’t wearing the white wig!”

WHY WOULD HE?

THE CRIMINAL CONNECTION

Now we get to the part that should scare you.

In the video Jake Snyder released from Bangkok, the group can be seen leaving a boat. That boat belongs to a man named Reggie Thorne.

Thorne has been described by multiple sources as a criminal with connections throughout Thailand.

So, why was Daniel Adler meeting Reggie Thorne? Why was Ongo Gablogian with them? Why were they all travelling together? And why did Gablogian ATTACK the photographer the moment he realised they were being filmed?

So we have a Hollywood billionaire, a suspected underground art dealer, and a known Thai criminal, all together in Bangkok in the same week.

COINCIDENCE?

I don’t think so.

HOW THE OPERATION WORKED

Here’s my theory. Stay with me. The painting was stolen from its original collector in Australia. It was smuggled out of the country through an international network of private dealers. Bangkok was a transit point. Reggie Thorne provided transport, storage, and access to criminal contacts.

A BOAT. ON A RIVER. WHERE NOBODY CHECKS ANYTHING.

Ongo Gablogian handled the art side of the transaction. Daniel Adler supplied the money. The painting was then brought back into Australia with forged paperwork showing a supposedly legitimate “private sale.” The public loan was announced as part of the cover.

Think about it.

What’s the best way to stop anyone from asking whether a painting was stolen?

HAVE A NATIONAL MUSEUM PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGE YOU AS THE OWNER.

Now everyone assumes it must be legitimate because it’s going on tour. Nobody asks questions. Nobody investigates the sale. Everyone congratulates the billionaire and his movie-star wife.

It’s brilliant, honestly.

And deeply, DEEPLY disturbing.

THE UNDERGROUND COMPLEX

There’s something else, and this is the part that keeps me up at night.

Adler’s Architectural Digest video shows that his Australian estate has an ENORMOUS underground complex.

An actual underground FACILITY.

There’s a hidden entrance behind a painting. Multiple levels. An industrial-sized elevator. A concealed exit through the side of a HILL. The entire structure is built so that it’s invisible from the outside, from the road, and from the air.

He says it’s for his comic books and his Batmobile.

Really?

A facility that size?

With that kind of security?

For ONE CAR?

I believe the Batmobile is a DISTRACTION. You show the cameras the shiny car, everyone goes “wow, Batman,” and nobody asks what’s behind the OTHER doors.

And there ARE other doors.

Rewatch at 16:14. When the lights come on row by row, there’s a steel door in the back left wall. It’s never mentioned. It’s never opened. The camera moves away from it IMMEDIATELY.

A complex like that would be the perfect place to store valuable objects the owner doesn’t want anyone to know about. Stolen paintings. Off-the-books cash. Documents.

And honestly? Why stop at objects? How about people???

He built a ROMAN BATHHOUSE. You know what else the Romans had? Dungeons. CATACOMBS. He literally calls himself a “Romaboo” on camera. He’s TELLING us.

And the elevator. Margot says, “He wanted it deep.”

DEEP.

How deep, Margot? Deep enough that nobody can hear anything?

I’m not saying he has people locked down there. I’m saying nobody can prove he DOESN’T.

EDIT 1: Mods, please pin this.

EDIT 2: Someone sent me information about Ongo Gablogian’s past involvement in the art world. Apparently, he once attended a gallery exhibition and described several of the artworks as “worthless,” and there may have been an altercation with the gallery owner. Violent tendencies. Looking into it.

EDIT 3: The more I look into the underground garage, the more convinced I am that the Batmobile is not its primary purpose. I have now watched the elevator scene frame by frame. The floor indicator does not show how many levels there are. WHY WOULDN’T IT SHOW THE LEVELS?

EDIT 4: [deleted]

EDIT 5: Stop messaging me that Ongo Gablogian looks like Danny DeVito. I KNOW HE LOOKS LIKE DANNY DEVITO. THAT DOES NOT MAKE HIM DANNY DEVITO. Lots of people look like Danny DeVito. That’s what makes it the PERFECT cover.

EDIT 6: Apparently, Gablogian describes himself as an art COLLECTOR, not an art DEALER. Interesting distinction for an innocent man to be so careful about.

EDIT 7: I’ve found a reference to someone named Frank Reynolds who owns property in Thailand. Investigating whether this is Gablogian’s legal name or another alias.

EDIT 8: I’ve been informed that Frank Reynolds owns a bar in Philadelphia. Why would an internationally connected art collector also run a small, failing bar in Philadelphia? Money laundering is one obvious possibility. I’m going to need everyone’s help on this one. If anyone is in Philly, DM me.

EDIT 9: My girlfriend has gone to stay at her sister’s. This is fine. This is what the truth costs.
