MuRo - I Did This Facial Expression Thing Before
About This Title
Hello, everyone!I’ve been working hard on facial expressions lately, and it reminded me that I made something similar before, so let me show you.
That one’s from about 8 years ago. Unlike my current webcam-based control, this was controlled with VR gear. I assigned expression patterns like joy, anger, sadness, and fun to the controller’s stick, and switched between them to move the face. I think it’s pretty similar to what VRChat does these days?
It’s hard to capture facial expressions when you’re wearing a headset. That’s why I switched expressions with the stick. For this one, I wanted to create the acting for when the eyes are closed, so I was pretty particular about that part.
In comparison, this time I’m using a camera, so it detects my actual expression, and I was able to build much more complex movements than before.
Instead of simply moving the parts of the face, I wanted to create controls that convey emotion, so I’m happy with how it’s turning out so far.
I’ll keep working on it!
