Mikeinel - "If I'm Not Around" Behind The Scenes

Did you watch the video? No? Then watch it on YouTube first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_EVxLyZHo4Below are somewhat spoiler-ish contents.

This video has already been on my mind for years now. When Halloween was coming up, I asked my current client if I could work on this on the side while working on our project, and I got an approval!

So I started with this sketch:

At this point, I didn't have proper designs for the kids. (The Passive Girl was even wearing a scarf here lol)

I later refined the ideas and ended up with this sketch. From there, I kept building on it until it became an entire mini video.

For the crowd, I originally wanted them to be based on Vtubers/OCs.

However, most of those I want to include have NSFW publicly available on their pages, and I didn't want the kiddies to see those.Aside from this, most of them have animal ears/antennas that I had to remove to make them fit in the video. After drawing them without those, I realized it just didn't look good...So, for simplicity's sake, I simply went with random designs. It's just a crowd, anyway.

I made the background by first creating a 3D reference, then I practically traced it. (I had to change a few details, though, like that open door)

And for the last part, I already had the idea of a monster in the forest years ago, but it looked different back then:

So, for this video, I decided to give it a proper design.

I don't want to show the monster's concept design yet, though. Maybe someday, but not today.

And that's pretty much everything in this mini video! Check the image gallery above, there are more pictures there!
