About This Title
Hey everyone, time for another blog post!
I’m deep in work mode right now and making great progress. As always, once I’m in the thick of it, I keep finding spots where a scene could use just a little more, and I want everything to reach a level I’m truly happy with. So let me get concrete about where things stand.
Last time, I said the medium fight scene was next. While working on it, I decided to make it bigger, so it’s now a full-scale fight scene, and it’s done. I might still go back and polish a few things, because I’ve had some good ideas along the way.
Next up is the big reveal. It’s still coming, but it’ll look a bit different than planned, because I’ve found a cool new mechanic to play with. Normally, Ren’Py ties your choices to a single playthrough. If you roll back or load a different save, those choices are undone. But Ren’Py also has persistent data, which stays even across rollbacks, saves and new playthroughs. Until now, I’ve only used that for the NSFW gallery, so scenes you’ve seen stay unlocked even when you start a new game. For the big reveal, I’m using it in a new way: the game will remember whether this is your second, third or fourth time there, or what you chose last time, and react to it. I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s going to be something special.
I’ve also decided to move the point where Chapter 13 ends. The chapter will close at an earlier moment in the story, and Chapter 14 will pick up right from there. Don’t worry, this doesn’t make Chapter 13 any smaller. Content-wise, it should be about the same size as i planned. What changed is that some parts that were originally smaller have grown. The medium fight scene was so much fun to work on that I used it to try out one or two new animation techniques and make it even more dynamic. You all know how much I love my dynamic fight scenes. When things move fast and hit hard, that’s exactly what gets me going. The same goes for the big reveal. I know many of you are eager to see what happens next, but I don’t want to rush through the story. A cool moment is only as good as its buildup and execution, and I love cool moments. So I’ve simply given these scenes more room to breathe.
The other reason is release timing. I don’t want to release anywhere near GTA 6. There’s a reason every other developer is steering clear of that launch. It’s one of the most anticipated games of the decade, even for me. Funny enough, I’ve never been a big GTA fan. I played GTA 5 once at launch and never touched it again. And still, the whole GTA 6 atmosphere has completely pulled me in.
Of course, I could just wait until the hype dies down. But I’ve made a lot of new content, and I want to get it into your hands. That’s a big thing for me. I love making this game, but what I love even more is releasing it and watching you discover what I’ve created. That’s the best part. So I’m planning around GTA 6, and the chapter will come out before it.
This time’s picture is Blake, as promised! Since most of what I’m working on is story-heavy, I’m keeping the in-game material under wraps for now, so enjoy these special images in the meantime. Now with Blake done, who do you want to see next? In any case, I hope you take care of yourself.Stay safe and i wish you a awesome weekend. With love,Berki
