Free MADventure | The Odd SeaThis month's free Patreon 5e MADventure was The Odd Sea, and today is your last day to download it for free before it moves onto our web shops!
"Decades ago, the famed astral explorer Odyss Vane vanished during his long journey home aboard his vessel, the Ithaca. Odyss had left his wife, Penny, and young son, Tel, to fight in a distant conflict that threatened his homeland. After the war, he began the voyage home, but stories of the fabled artefacts known as the Hero's Panoply drew him into a succession of detours. Odyss’s wandering finally ended after he and his crew onboard their ship the Ithaca recovered the Golden Sun, an ancient astral map believed to reveal the route to these artefacts. Nothing was seen or heard of Odyss ever since.
Now Zhomer, an eccentric astral bard and collector of spacer tales, has spent years assembling the scattered stories of Odyss's voyage into an epic account called Zhomer's Odyssey. A new lead offers a chance to retrace the route, find the lost Ithaca, and discover what really happened."
The Odd Sea includes:
A fully formatted adventure journal, including suggested tactics and strategies for enemies.
An interactive Splash screen
3 Adventure Scenes
11 Actors
14 Items
2 Roll Tables
For more details and to grab the adventure, check out the original post!
October Free Map Poll Winner: The Condemned | Archivist's OfficeEvery month we're letting Patreon followers vote on a map from the previous month to be added to our ever growing free map collection. From last month's The Condemned theme the Archivist's Office map was the winner!
You can now grab the map from the original post here, and the free Foundry Module has been updated with the Archivist's Office map!
Next Theme | FlatworldWe're excited to reveal that next month's theme will be Flatworld! This is a theme we've been very excited to do and have talked about internally for a long time - a group of fantasy maps heavily inspired by locations from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels!
Flatworld will release over the course of November and will include maps such as:
The Shades
Unseen Library
Inquisition Pits
Death's Domain
and more!
We're excited to share Flatworld with you over the course of November!
Project we Love: Skellies! This month we wanted to take a moment to tell you about Skellies, from our friends over at The Griffon's Saddlebag, whose Backerkit campaign ends tomorrow!
In Griff's own words:
"Skellies is the game-night alternative that I wanted to play. It’s for when someone calls out sick from game night, or when the emotional weight of last session is still hanging heavy over the table."
Skellies lets you play as the silly, expendable dungeon dwellers we all know and love to destroy. Earn your lich’s appreciation by making their immortality bearable: crochet them a little hat, organize their journals by century, or crush anyone who dares to intrude on your beautiful undead lair! It’s intentionally easy to learn - the rules fit inside the back cover - but carefully designed with mechanics that are fun to use and fun to break. It uses d6s, two stats (Bones and Brains), and fail-upwards game design to inspire bigger and “brighter” ideas.
This isn’t a heroic fantasy RPG, but a goofier anti-heroic one! Use it as a pallet cleanser or go-to alternative on game nights: there are no stakes, and any risk you take will only lead to an equally funny outcome.
Key Information:The game is free: you can read and play 100% of it without spending a cent at playskellies.com.
You only need d6s to play.
It’s a mixture of OSR vibes meets office comedy with Benny Hill playing in the background.
Purposefully designed to be learned in minutes and played on a whim when a player calls out of game night.
Perfect to use as a comedic break from heroic fantasy and explore (with levity) what happens to fallen heroes or NPCs centuries later. Great for TPK’ed parties or slain NPCs!
Check out the Backerkit campaign before it finishes TOMORROW!
We'll be back in November to bring you another month of content. We have exciting plans for 2027 which we're looking forward to sharing with you over the coming months!
Until then,
Keep Rollin' those 20's, folks!
