Gatobob - Halloween Update!

Good morning! It's a chilly and snowy Halloween morning here!

I had a very productive week last week! I got quite a few sprites done, finishing up Night 2, and also updated the main menu animation [ I got sick of seeing Strade's back every time I booted up the game LMAO ]

We are now sitting at 1112 sprite images, so there is officially twice as many as Strade's game had

I'm really in kind of a 'Fuck it, we ball' place with it mentally now I really am having fun. There's still a fair amount to cover though. I have many endings to do placeholders for, some other miscellaneous content, and some areas at the very beginning of the game that I initially skipped.

But, I know I'll get it done. I'm just gonna keep moving forward.

[ Please don't repost my stuff to social media | Пожалуйста, не публикуйте мои работы в TikTok. ]

And as a special Halloween Treat, here's the new main menu! [ The art is still a placeholder but probably won't change very much ]

Willow Zone!

Random Media Shoutout Zone:

I've been watching some good stuff lately so I just want to give my thumbs up to a couple things!

Liaka's Wildwood is out in Theatres and it's amazing! Laika never misses [ Paranorman, Box trolls, Kubo and the two strings, and more ]. They're a stop motion animation studio and they produce incredibly unique and beautiful handmade films. This movie was even more technically impressive than all of their previous work. I found all of the characterization to be very good and was surprised to find it a bit more violent than Laika's usual approach!

My only incredibly tiny complaint is that the plot was a bit typical compared to what Laika usually does. Their other movies are EXTREMELY unique, while this one follows a more typical fantasy-epic sort of plotline. This is barely a complaint though- because they did such a damn good job. They may have revisited some common concepts, but they did a better job of them than other popular media has, so can you really call that derivative? [ I say no ]

Mike Flanagan's new miniseries Carrie is out on Amazon Prime as well!

Flanagan is also a never-miss in my books. His horror stories are always incredible. They're scary, but also full of depth and amazing, inspiring writing.

I'm only 5 episodes into the 8 episode series so far, but I can say with my full chest that it's the best telling of Stephen King's Carrie by far. Flanagan opens the series immediately with the fiery ending we all know- as if to promise that he's got a lot more up his sleeve. And he's right. The changes he's made to the story are fantastic. The characters are so much more fleshed out. I personally really love what he's done with Carrie's mom- she's no longer a one note barely believable villain, but an incredibly complex human that I can sympathize with.

If you're a classic horror fan and like Flanagan's work, it's a must see!

Lastly, I want to shout out to my older and probably jaded/burned ATLA/Korra fans that Avatar: Seven Havens on Paramount+ is Good in my opinion.

I know a lot of people are very excited to hate on it and tear it down, but I personally really enjoyed the first 12 eps. I think it brings a lot of new concepts to the table, and it feels like it's setting up something that could be incredible.

The setting is quite far in the future from Korra's time, and the world is very different. The post apocalyptic atmosphere is very interesting, and the seven havens themselves are very intriguing. We mainly only get to see one haven and its culture, but others have been teased and it looks like they have vastly different cultures and approaches to life and history.

Pavi and Nisha are good characters too, they're complex and I can smell a lot of plot being set up.

I have a lot of theories for where they're going to go with this series. It's just speculation on my part, but I think that Raava, Vaatu, and the true meaning of Yin and Yang will be heavy upcoming themes. Themes including healing, culture, diversity and unity. Things I think we could use right now.

Anyway, if you're an oldhead avatar fan like me, I think you should give it a chance.

Anyway, I know the game sprites are getting crazy, but I just wanted to thank you guys for having faith in me. I really love this chase. I've just been so happy lately. Sometimes the work is rough and it feels like a mountain I'll never reach the top of. But other times, it's like being tied to wind, living and moving. I'm thankful for all of it, so I appreciate you guys a lot for giving this to me.

Also, Happy Halloween! Stay safe and have fun! If you're going to be doing something crazy, remember to tell medical professionals everything and cops nothing!

See you next Saturday!
