About This Title

We decided to stay at my parents’ house for a few more days.

I didn’t really want to go into too much detail here, but over the weekend a missile hit not far from one of our studios, and one of the windows was blown out. So we had to deal with all of that.

Of course, things like this affect you more than you sometimes expect. And I feel like I need a little more time to recover and get my energy back.

So this weekend I didn’t draw at all.

I just sat with my book and read Alchemised. That was basically my whole weekend. I decided to give myself a small pause and not force myself to be productive.

But don’t worry about the tutorials here - I recorded quite a lot of lessons in advance, so everything will still be published according to schedule.

For now, I thought I could share some of my older artworks with you. Most of you have probably never seen them because I posted them many years ago, when my Instagram account was still very small.

The first one is this rose.

I painted it when I was around 18 years old, during my third year of art college. It’s watercolor… and it’s not even painted on watercolor paper.

I can’t say that I absolutely love this painting now, but for some reason my parents still have it hanging in their house after all these years. So I guess they still like it.

And then there is this diptych.

I painted these works a little later, after I had already opened my first art studio. They are oil paintings, 50 × 70 cm each.

I had a whole period when I was obsessed with brown and blue colors, and you can definitely see it here. I still really love this brown palette.

These paintings are probably six or seven years old now, but they are still some of my favorite works from that time. I don’t know exactly why, but I still feel very connected to them.

And there will be more this week.

A little later I’ll show you what we are going to paint in this Saturday’s tutorial.

I also want to share some color theory with you this week. I think it can make working with color much easier and help you understand how to create brighter colors, more muted colors, and generally feel more confident when choosing and mixing colors.

So even though I’m taking things a little slower right now, we still have plenty of art ahead of us.
