Arcanyx Studios - We Are Horsing Around Again
About This Title
I saw Marty’s question asking if we’re building a horse for Ashe. The short answer is no. This team operates on mutual support and respect. When I extended opportunities for him to get involved, whether that was joining the KerstynVoices Fan Club Discord or simply putting up a Patreon post to promote Serana Revamped and our lead voice talent’s incredible workm those doors were ignored.
Every time folks make a custom horse. . I think of this Weebl video. it is a curse from working in Radio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUl9_5kK9ts
I believe in backing the people who back us. I am a community modder first and foremost, and I support my friends in what they do. That includes Mihail, who I will always ping if I need a truly bespoke creature. He already delivered the stunning Sylphs of Glass for us, and he currently has a whole lineup in the forge
Glass Priest
Glass Night Terror
Glass Golem
Pumpkin Spider
Skooma Cat
And finally...
SIR CHEDDARD - THE CHEESE GOLEM!(Sir Cheddard's name is derived from my friend who is in the Navy, Charles Goddard. I am proud of that guy and he has been stuck on a ship over near Iran for months. I feel sorry for those guys. To join the Navy he tried to lose weight using various diets and the one that made him switch ultimately was going vegetarian.)
Building a custom 3D asset of this caliber is no joke. Commissioning one from scratch easily runs between $300 and $1,200. This is exactly why modders are so fiercely protective of their work and hate unauthorized ports; these assets are crafted with serious love, time, and expertise.
Here’s the reality of industry rates:
Concept Art (~$50): The crucial and time-consuming first step to lock in the design.
Mesh Building ($150–$800): The heavy digital lifting. High-poly custom meshes easily push that $800 ceiling.
Rigging ($50–$150): Essential for making the skeleton actually move in-game.
Texturing ($50–$200): Highly dependent on the number of modular parts.
That said, the good news is that we do have a mount coming in 2027! Yes, folks, Arcanyx Studios has a new mount in development! We aren't doing anything "normal" with this one. To keep things sustainable without compromising quality, we’re running a new test with Meshy AI. We tried it a year ago and weren't impressed, but the tech has evolved. Now, we let the AI generate a super-heavy base mesh, sometimes hitting 11 million polygons, and then it is all about the human touch. Clockwork Tot and I dive in, chop it down, and customize the hell out of it. Nobody wants to try and move an 11-million polygon monstrosity! THAT WOULD CREATE A FRAME-RATE ASSASSIN DISGUISED AS A MOUNT! Or is it a FPS Terminator?
But we do have a plan.
KEEP THE COOL OUTER PLATING.GUT THE STANDARD INTERNAL STRUCTURE.REBUILD THE MECHANICAL SYSTEM OUR WAY.And, most importantly...GIVE THIS BEAST ANIMATED PISTONS!Because if you're going to ride a mechanical warhorse across Skyrim, those moving parts had better look like they do something!
The armored shell is the foundation of the entire aesthetic. We want to preserve that incredible mechanical appearance while creating a properly customized and functional mount beneath it. I like the plating.
Somewhere, a Dwemer engineer is shedding a single tear of approval.
This pipeline means I can handle the concept art and get the base mesh generated for about $20, which frees up the budget to hire Clockwork Tot for the expert rigging and texturing.
With love, caffeine, and absolutely no restraint!
