B-Mask - October Update (New videos!!)
About This Title
Hi Gang!
Let’s start with Thunderbolts Episode 2 this time, with some great news- all the contributions are now complete.
There’s nothing I’m waiting on right now, all the art I requested is there, including certain revisions, and I’m ready to get back to hard editing that into the timeline and making this the closest it’s been to complete yet. There’s even now still one or two uncertainties, but I’m feeling pretty good about an end point, and debating if I want to commit to that as a December release, it really needs to come out before this year is through. It is a bit wild to me that it’s taken over a year to assemble this thing, but unfortunately that’s just how it’s all shaken out. All that matters is I get my head down and put us over the finish line.
I should have news on that in the very near future.
Now, some of the stuff I got up to in the meantime. While waiting for contributions, I found myself with a bit of extra time and a need to get away from the project just for a bit to avoid total burnout, and circled back to plans for two videos, a long one and a short one, in the hope I’d get one of the two out for Halloween. Sadly that didn’t happen, despite pushing myself to finish one and then the other for safety, but there were too many things while making them I wanted to revise before release and I completely ran out of time right before the deadline, so you’re getting them now instead. Luckily their thematic link to spooky stuff is pretty flexible, so no reason for me to put it off for another year.
The first is a review of The Mermaid Mask, part of the Detective Grimoire series from SFB, who developed Crow country, and who’s game had been on my radar for a while. I was able to play through the entire series and drum up a review pretty quickly, and with a few extra ideas I threw in for fun later on, I think it came together the way I hoped. I really like those Super Flash Bros and their games at large, so this I hope will draw even more attention to their latest work which really is, like Crow Country, another prime example of their talent.
The second, man, I was so, so close to getting this done, and part of it was because it’s the longer video I spoke about last year and had quietly been tinkering with in the background. It would have been a banger release for this Halloween, but tragically, even crunching before the big day, I just could not finish it in time, as there was too much I chopped and changed in the process of the actual edit, leaving too much unpolished at the last minute. However, I am quite happy with it, and I think it will still resonate, especially for Thunderbolts fans looking for comic-adjacent content from me. I’ve talked about the subject before, but it’s high time I put out something collecting more of my thoughts on the matter. Hopefully you’ll be seeing that in about a week or two. Really not much left to go there.
In fact, looking at it now, the last video I made on the same subject was released on a November as well. Hmm! Maybe it’s fate.
There’s one last thing you’ve probably seen me talk about already on my Youtube community posts. One of my Thunderbolts cast, the wonderful Anthony Botelho, who played Jonah (and more roles to be revealed), invited me to record for his horror anthology podcast, ‘The Wrong Station.’ I adore short horror and have been a fan of the podcast since I discovered it through him, and was delighted to be asked to record, in what is actually my first professional gig. As someone having a bit of a crisis of career it really means a lot to me to have that credit, and I hope there’ll be more things to come in the next year. I know he’s probably reading this so again, a huge thanks to Anthony for that, and hopefully more people will discover the wonderful work he and his collaborators have been up to. Abigail Turner also has a story on there, so if you love her work as Sue and Karla, you should absolutely tune in for her readings there as well!
Right, that’s everything from me so far. There’s a lot of stuff coming, it just all took way longer than I wanted, but we should have a very strong lead into next year now. I’ll get into the weeds of that once Thunderbolts 2 finally drops.
Til then!
