Hey everyone, it's Sunday again! Today Marie is looking very cute, isn't she? She looks perfect like that! As promised, today we have the full version of "Obedience". This one is over a minute long, and it ends with a very nice application of fluid simulation. Basically, this is a "roleplay-style" video.
I spent several days just working on the fluid part. Blender has a problem where the simulation "blows up" when viscosity is enabled and the fluid is interacting with an animated model. The longer the simulation the more likely it is to happen. It's basically a certainty that it's going to blow up, and for the kinds of scenes I make it's hardly useful. My objective was to get it stable enough to last 500 frames or so.
The other issue is that since it's more likely to blow up later, you can't even bake just the first few frames, you need to bake the whole thing every time to check. That takes an absurd amount of time. Often it's best to just fake it instead. But sometimes you want to see simulated fluids interacting with the model.
