Hello all!
Well, I only have a couple of shots left before all the animation is done for this "side project," so I figured we'd better pull out all the stops and do some ambitious stuff toward the end. So here's some background animation taking in the scale of the city.The Doctor's lip syncing still isn't perfect, but much better after some feedback from Maki.

It's a basic 3D model that I then hand-draw and paint little details and shading onto.Here's the raw 3D mode I madel:
The background is just a painting stuck to a cylinder around the edge of the scene! A low tech solution indeed!
Originally, I had the beacon on the top just flash with the lens flare-like effect, but then I realised it was a good opportunity to do a load of impact frames to emphasise its energy-sucking properties! So, as always, I watched the Thundercats intro frame by frame and learned from the masters:
I was never a huge fan of the show as a kid, despite being in the right age range when it was released. I just didn't like anthropomorphic animal stuff and would always go for humans and spaceships instead (my go-to was Ulysses 31 at the time). Now, as I am older, I appreciate the sheer quality of the intro. We shan't see its like again!
Anyway, I hope this was informative! Back to work for me...
