History didn’t begin on September 11, 2001, despite how much our Western pundit and political class wishes it so. The weaponization of and refusal to reckon with the horrors of that day in the 25 years since can be seen in the genocide in Gaza and yet another war of aggression the United States and Israel have initiated against the people of Iran.
We’ve been covering this exploitation, the frameworks and narratives that carry such imperial violence across the globe, for nearly a decade.
On this livestream, we focus on the past few weeks and months, in particular, where we’ve seen a renewed wave of anti-Arab and anti-Muslim vitriol, from the push to bar New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani from attending the 25th-year 9/11 commemoration ceremony, to the resurgence of rank Islamophobia to discipline anti-Zionists, to the media's double standards and moral distinctions in the use of the word “terrorism.”
