chimeracostumes - Blog: Frustrated with Tiktok
infoAbout This Title
I'm frustrated with tiktok and I thought I'd share with you guys. It's very difficult to get tiktok to actually pay me, as a creator. The good ol' days of the creator fund are loooonggg gone. In order to monetize my tiktok videos they have to be at least 60 seconds long, yet the longer ones dont usually do as well, so of course the views are low. A few weeks back I made a corset-lacing video that qualified for monetization (it was longer than 60 seconds) and it actually ended up doing really well (it has 50.2 million views as of right now). I was excited because usually I don't make anything worth mentioning on tiktok, so this is kind of an exception.
Welp. A few days before they were due to actually pay me the earnings from that one, the system mysteriously flagged it as "inappropriate" (meaning I dont get paid). I'm going through the appeals process now (it really doesnt violate the terms, so it ought to be approved if a human does the review). It's very frustrating that when I had a video that actually did well enough to get some money, the system "just happened" to demonetize that specific video.
Maybe I'm crazy, but it sure feels like they do everything they can not to pay creators over on tiktok... they've been pushing the tiktok shop SO hard (and I've declined to participate in that because it's so scammy). I half wonder if I'm being penalized for not doing the tiktok shop.
I surely do appreciate those of you who subscribe to me over here on Patreon, where the platform actually supports the creators and does things to help us succeed!
