We Love Cold War!! - Nico Animeworks - WLCW Update 10/10
About This Title
Hi ! Nico here, got a huge update for all you supporters of "We Love Cold War!!"We're reaching final completion of the design sheets / pre-production for Season One, not much to say, but take a look!
All of the above drawings are "animation-ready" meaning that the colours and lineart have been optimized so that any other animator besides myself should be able to readily take these sheets and use them to recreate the style that we've been aiming to recreate in bulk for the full season of WLCW.A major reason for our delays have been due to the lack of dedicated design sheets, as I was both the primary animator, designer, story artist, and lacked the ability to delegate without a loss of quality, however we are steadily remedying this issue and hope to produce something using the new production workflow quite soon.
Also completely random: Additionally, we are producing a live-action commercial to help promote the new Naomi plush coming later for the holidays. Here are the storyboards for that.
Work is also continuing on the animation side... (clean-up above, by Ian Howland)
Here are more rough concept sheets drafted and completed of the Warsaw Pact girls.
... and new standees from our long-time collaborator Kotori, are coming soon as well.
That's all for now, this update is on a Thursday because we've actually been exponentially faster as of late, as our own internal deadlines are in flux due to the prioritization of the Pilot's completion.Surveys for Backerkit "name in credits" & shikishi requests will come out in the next week. I am sorry for constantly delaying this, the Backerkit surveys have proven to be more complicated and time-consuming to set-up.I have also talked to Lardagus, who is the warehouse manager for the WLCW Store, while I had wanted to ship goods earlier or "as soon as we got them" for the Backerkit rewards, we ultimately decided it was best for his sanity to try to consolidate most of the 944 backer rewards into a "ship all at once" arrangement.Because of this, the Backer rewards, due to the Pilot & OST not being done, are very like to be shipped in mid-2027. The current estimate is June 2027 at the earliest, for backers to start receiving their rewards such as the Atomic Briefcase and everything else.I do think this is a comfortable compromise, backers were told that it would be until 2027 for their rewards to be sent out. Additionally, Sea Power was also signed to complete the WLCW OST, and we ultimately wanna make something kickass & not just rush junk especially as we're releasing it physically. All things said, we want to get animation production and making art down to a science, so we're giving ourselves a year to fulfill these lofty goals.Once WLCW's Pilot is complete, our goal is to have WLCW Season 1 - Volume One, pressed on a nice Blu-Ray disc, cassette, VHS tape, with a cool artbook of everything we've done, and then immediately start work on Volume Two with Episodes 2-6 in the works. It'll be an uphill battle but it should be doable. The artbook is still slated to be finished in December + a new line up of WLCW merch/goods to be released for the holidays. This is the one update post since the campaign ended I'm actually quite happy with, we got alot of work done, things are much more optimistic, and we'll see you guys next week!We Love Cold War!!- Nico
