Scarlet_Meow - Her 18th – Part 3 Teaser
About This Title
Heyo everyone! Here's a bit of a teaser of the intro for the song! Patreon allows video uploads now, so I can show music + visuals together now, so this is a great time to show a little teaser.
With the first showcase of the song, I can announce that our first vocalist, representing Iris is CottontailVA.
I hope you all enjoy this little preview ^^.
With that, let's get into this week's progress report, yeah?
This week was like caulking the seems. The game lacked SFX, Music (in sections like: tents, score screen, menus, etc.), and the UI was in a pretty unacceptable state.
Unfortunately I can't really demonstrate the SFX well unless I post a video, but it was mostly for UI feedback for the player (like button hovering, and clicking), along with the SFX for the Hscenes. It will be a bit delicate deciding where I want SFX in Hscenes (Being a rhythm game, I still feel the music being as clear as possible is priority.), so this is all very subject to change/adjustments.
The Music in the tents/menus for the time being is actually just some songs from SpunkStock1. It will likely just be placeholder, but for these early builds it should do the trick. I might keep some though... it's sorta nostalgic in a way :P.
The UI I can show off a bit here though. I haven't done a *complete* overhaul, but it's definitely a step up from what it was before ahaha.
The sidebar, and Menu buttons have been changed with the corresponding "Profile".
And when animated
It's really just a couple 9-slices, with a couple other small icons, and I used them across the board for now.
I had also realized that in modifier select, I didn't actually add descriptions yet, so alongside the new UI, I added that
I also changed the little crosshair indicators on the clothes a bit, and made them "pulse" on certain beats. I want them to draw attention without being distracting. This is so the player will know what to interact with, without it getting in the way of keeping the beat.
This UI is by no means final, and there will likely be adjustments made, but I think it should suffice for now.
That pretty much sums up the week! This coming week is going to be a bit of an interesting one. I am going to be doing some adjustments/additions to the audio system. Unity's built-in audio system doesn't have the greatest tools to deal with things that I want.
To put it simply. Tempo Up worked great in SpunkStock1. It's pitch and speed would raise. The issue with SpunkStock2, is that the pitch raising on Tempo Up does nottttt translate well when vocals are involved. This means I would want to raise the tempo without raising the pitch. Sounds simple enough, but Unity doesn't have the greatest options for this (I can "technically" achieve this, but the quality suffers immensely), so I am going to be playing with some plugins to get the desired effect.
Another thing I'll get to if I can, is charting "Fission". I would like the off-beats to be at appropriate places, rather than randomly. If I'm being honest, if Fission feels good in this state, I might even remove it as a modifier, and make it a built in feature with difficulties, but we'll see.
There is actually another thing that I've been feeling lately. The closing rings worked quite well when it came to watching the animation, keeping tempo, and even with Fission I felt it worked, but ever since I added the "Clothing Break", I've started to feel that attention gets split a biiittt too much. Too many things to focus on for it to feel comfortable. I really like the Clothing Break, so at the moment I am actually going to go back to the drawing board to the actual Note/play style. I have a new Idea I want to try instead of the closing rings around the side. It's a bit of a balancing act, but I think if I can find a sweet spot this game is gonna be tight... ahaha.
I probably won't have enough time to approach this next week, but I would really like to address it before release.
Anyways... that's enough yapping from me ahaha. I hope you guys all liked the previews! I'll catch you next week with some fundamental adjustments!
Thanks a ton to everyone who is still on board!
