BeamNG 0.39 Compatibility

Career Overhaul has been extensively updated for BeamNG.drive 0.39.

Migrated the mod’s Lua, UI, routing, pause-menu, map, and facility integrations to the new 0.39 structures.

Reworked override loading to prevent vanilla 0.39 modules from replacing Career Overhaul systems.

Removed thousands of obsolete bundled vanilla files, reducing conflicts and unnecessary package content.

Updated West Coast USA assets, facilities, dealerships, garages, event areas, roads, lighting, and terrain data for the 0.39 map.

Restored missing Auction House and Ravix model/material references.

Fixed phone input bindings after the mod mounts.

Fixed extension loading involving path-based modules, UI console handling, Taxi passenger modules, facilities, fuel prices, and drift spots.

Fixed Racing Team dependency unloading and optional expansion-map checks.

Improved loading into supported career expansion maps.

Protected force-feedback restoration when vehicles are unavailable or have changed during loading.

Legacy Save Migration

Older career saves now have a dedicated migration system.

Added automatic detection of saves requiring migration.

Added a detailed compatibility report before loading an older save.

Reports missing content, incompatible vehicles, unavailable garages, loose parts, and other possible migration problems.

Migration always creates a separate copy and leaves the original save untouched.

Players can:

Sell everything and receive the estimated value.

Choose individual vehicles, parts, and garages to sell.

Attempt to preserve everything.

Added clear warnings for blocked or risky migrations.

Rebuilt legacy insurance data into the current format.

Preserved compatible insurance and ownership information.

Added rollback protection if migration preparation cannot finish safely.

Prevented missing insurance data from wiping vehicles during the first load.

Fixed migration handling for missing vehicles, garages, or invalid save versions.

Fixed copied and renamed profiles retaining the previous display name.

New Career Setup

Starting a career has been completely redesigned.

Added three distinct starting paths:

Career – the primary progression experience.

Story – curated challenges with specific rules and goals.

Custom – complete control over progression and starting conditions.

Added new difficulty presets:

Hard

Hardcore

Difficulty now controls money, XP, and starting cash on a per-save basis.

Added starting map selection.

Added starting garage selection.

Added a direct starting-cash input.

Added Police and Maintenance Mode options during profile creation.

Custom careers can configure:

Global economy speed.

Global XP speed.

Starting cash.

Per-activity payouts.

Per-skill XP rates.

Police.

Maintenance.

Cheats.

Profile cards now show the career path and difficulty.

Moved the Police preference to individual profile cards.

Fixed difficulty, Hardcore rules, and Hardcore starter vehicles not persisting correctly.

Improved profile switching to follow the same reliable process as changing maps.

Phone App Store

The phone now has a proper App Store.

New phones begin with four core dock apps instead of every app being preinstalled.

Apps can be installed through the App Store.

Added descriptive store cards for each app.

Skill-gated apps appear in the store but explain their requirements when opened before unlocking.

Fixed app installation and home-screen refresh behavior.

Fixed App Store icons and delayed home-screen icon rendering.

Moved individual app settings to dedicated settings pages.

Phone Tutorial and Wiki

Added a guided phone tutorial after the career introduction.

Expanded the tutorial to explain fundamental phone apps and navigation.

Tutorial completion is remembered globally, so experienced players can skip it on future profiles.

Fixed the final tutorial step causing a full-screen blackout.

Added a developer option to replay the tutorial.

Renamed the Guide app to Wiki.

Reworked the Wiki into expandable categories and topics.

Updated gameplay descriptions, hints, and Marketplace documentation.

Phone Notifications

The notification system has been substantially expanded.

Converted phone-related toast messages into proper phone notifications.

Added Android-style banners while the phone is open.

Notifications can be tapped to open the relevant app.

Added swipe-left and swipe-right dismissal.

Added separate controls for lock-screen and banner notifications.

Added a master notification toggle.

Added individual app notification controls.

Added notification-duration selection.

Added a simplified notification mode that only displays the app name.

Added Do Not Disturb.

Notifications now check whether their app is installed before appearing.

Existing events can generate catch-up notifications when their app is installed.

Added event-specific FRE Contract notifications.

Added Tuning Shop job-complete and job-failed notifications.

Added Dakar and Road Authority notifications.

Improved notification text layout and prevented long text from leaving the screen.

Realistic Walking and Vehicle Entry

A new immersive entry and walking system has been added.

Added first-person transitions when entering and exiting vehicles.

The player approaches the driver’s door before entering.

Supported doors can open and close during the sequence.

Entry positioning accounts for vehicle dimensions, driver location, right-hand-drive layouts, obstacles, oversized tires, tracks, and attachments.

As always, thank you for all the feedback, testing, and bug reports. The move to BeamNG.drive 0.39 required touching nearly every major part of Career Overhaul, but it also created the foundation for a cleaner UI, safer save upgrades, better performance, and much more control over how each career begins.
