TonkatsuCHAN - Update on the situation!

infoAbout This Title

Hey folks.

It’s been a few days since my dad left, and I’ve been able to get back to work. I wanted to give an update on where things stand and how I’m going to get back on track after this disruption.

I’ll lay out what’s happening right now and how I’ll handle the rest of the month.

A) The SCP Momo set

This was originally supposed to come out around the 23rd–24th, but my dad showed up at my place unannounced and threw everything off. Even after he left, it took a day or two to get back into a good enough headspace to work (he has a way of putting me in a bad place).

It doesn’t help that this set is very ambitious. Probably too ambitious, on par with the Komi set with a lot of detail and moving parts.

Right now the set is about 90% done and scheduled for release Monday. I was tempted to rush it out as soon as possible, but I think that would only hurt the final product. So I decided to take a bit more time and give it the attention it deserves. It sucks that this has made me really late, but life happens and it can’t be helped.

The point is, it’s nearly finished. It’s chonky, full of detail, and probably the most ambitious thing I’ve done to date. Not just in terms of page count. I also experimented with new ideas like codex pages, comic-strip montages, and so on. This was a great learning experience, and there are definitely things I’ll keep for future sets.

B) Engaged to Rubber VN

As I explained earlier, my original plan was to release the SCP set around the third week of the month so I could spend the last week on a possible final ETR patch. But my dad dropped in on me with no warning, and here we are.

With how badly this threw off my schedule, I don’t feel confident saying I’ll be able to work on it this coming month. I just have to be honest.

This month is about getting my schedule back on track after the disruption. Once that’s done, I’ll look at how to replan the VN and hopefully 3072 AD sooner rather than later.

I don’t want to make empty promises, so let me clean things up this month, and we’ll see how I can fix this next month.

C) Jill set, Raffles and what’s going to happen this month?

Aside from releasing the SCP Momo set, the Jill Valentine set is still happening this month. It’ll be a return to a “normal” set. I did two very big ones with Komi and now SCP, and while I love these ambitious projects, they aren’t sustainable every month. I think it’s cool to do chunky sets from time to time, but they should be the exception, not the rule and not something people should expect every time.

So expect the Jill set this month as a regular ~150-page set.

As for OC raffles and the like: I want to do one this month, but I’ll wait until the tail end of the month before I decide. I want to see how far I am into the Jill set first. The last thing I need is for Jill to slip into next month. It needs to come out this month so I can get back to my normal workflow.

Game-wise, as I said, it’s unlikely anything will happen this month. I’ll get back to it next month once things are normal again.

After the SCP set drops Monday, I’ll do a work-schedule post as usual, though it’ll arrive a bit later than normal.

Thank you for your patience while I work to fix the damage these past few days have caused.
