Chapter 128: Master and Apprentice

“Shun, you go on ahead.”

“I want it to be just Master Camus and me here.”

“This is between the two of us. I don’t want anyone else interfering.”

Hyoga had already regained consciousness. Looking at Camus standing at the entrance to the Aquarius Temple, he spoke to Shun beside him.

Shun hesitated, but after glancing at the flames on the Fire Clock, he nodded.

They did not have much time left.

Besides, Hyoga had already made his wishes clear. Shun had no reason to interfere.

There was still one final Temple ahead, the Pisces Temple.

No matter what, he had to defeat the Gold Saint guarding it and clear the way for Seiya, Ryosho, and the others coming from the Capricorn Temple.

With that thought, Shun stopped hesitating and cautiously walked toward Camus.

Camus merely kept his eyes on Hyoga. He made no attempt to stop Shun as he passed by.

Once Shun had left, Hyoga looked at Camus.

“Master Camus, no matter what happens, I have to thank you!”

“Back in Siberia, you taught me countless things as a Saint. No words could ever express how grateful I am.”

“That’s why I don’t think I should express my gratitude with words. I should do it in the way of a Saint.”

“By fighting you with everything you taught me!”

“Camus! I’m going to defeat you!”

Camus’s expression remained calm, but his heart was far from still.

Hyoga, why did you have to come back to life?

Why couldn’t you have just...

Forget it. There was no point saying anything now.

Camus closed his eyes without uttering a word, then turned and walked into the Aquarius Temple.

...

“The Aquarius Temple is just ahead.”

Seiya looked at the temple now within sight.

He could feel two powerful Cosmos violently colliding inside.

“Has Hyoga already started fighting?”

Shiryu nodded. “The Gold Saint guarding the Aquarius Temple is Camus.”

“Camus? Isn’t he...”

“That’s right. Hyoga’s Master.”

Ryosho rolled his eyes and walked past Seiya and Shiryu, who had stopped again the moment they started talking.

“Enough chatting. We don’t have any time to waste.”

“Right.”

Seiya scratched his head and hurried after him.

Despite what Ryosho had said, his own pace had already slowed.

There were less than two hours left, but as long as nothing unexpected happened, they could essentially head straight to the Pope's Temple from here.

He had not forgotten that interesting matter concerning Aphrodite that the Crateris Cloth had shown him back on Andromeda Island.

If no one changed that future, they should soon be able to pass through both the Aquarius Temple and Pisces Temple.

While he was here, he could also see whether Camus could be saved.

A duel between master and apprentice was not really something he should interfere with, but once it ended, there was every reason to heal Camus and see if he could keep him alive.

Hyoga and his whole school really were something else.

Every single one of them was unbelievably stubborn.

Did things really need to reach the point where they had to risk their lives?

It was not as though they had some deep blood feud.

It was just Absolute Zero. So what if Hyoga could not master it?

Could it possibly matter more than his life?

Ryosho simply could not understand them.

Then again, he had no interest in trying to understand Hyoga’s school in the first place.

The moment he stepped into the Aquarius Temple, he felt the bitterly cold Freezing Air.

Seiya and Shiryu immediately shivered.

“It’s freezing!”

Seiya rubbed his arms, only to realize that a thin layer of ice had somehow already formed over his Bronze Cloth.

“Achoo...”

Shiryu, whose Cloth had already been shattered, sneezed. The droplets from his mouth froze into tiny pieces of ice before falling to the ground.

He was already so cold that he could barely speak.

“That’s the Freezing Air being released by Camus and Hyoga. Hurry up and burn your Cosmo, or the two of you are going to turn into blocks of ice.”

Ryosho sensed the temperature inside the Aquarius Temple and warned Seiya and Shiryu.

The temperature had already fallen far below minus 200 degrees Celsius.

A thick layer of frost covered the ground. It was frozen air itself, which had made the atmosphere unusually thin.

At temperatures like this, Bronze Cloths were not the only ones affected. Even Silver Cloths would begin to freeze.

Fortunately, the Silver Cloth Ryosho wore was the final and strongest form revived by Athena's Blood.

Its defensive ability was already close to that of a Gold Cloth, and its freezing point had also approached the Gold Cloth’s minus 273.15 degrees Celsius, reaching roughly minus 270 degrees.

“Ryosho, why do you look completely fine? Aren’t you cold?”

Seiya and Shiryu were already burning their Cosmos to keep warm, yet they still felt freezing.

Ryosho, however, seemed completely unaffected.

He was not even burning his Cosmo.

He was enduring the extreme cold of the Aquarius Temple through nothing but his own physical strength.

That was difficult to believe.

Ryosho did not answer directly.

“Under normal circumstances, a Bronze Cloth freezes at minus 150 degrees Celsius. In other words, once the temperature drops below minus 150 degrees, a Bronze Cloth will freeze completely and eventually shatter.”

“A Silver Cloth freezes at minus 200 degrees.”

“A Gold Cloth freezes at minus 273.15 degrees, which is absolute zero.”

“Right now, the temperature inside the Aquarius Temple is already well below minus 200 degrees. It’s close to minus 210, and the farther in we go, the lower it gets.”

“So it’s perfectly normal for you to feel cold.”

“This temperature has already exceeded what Bronze Saints and Silver Saints can normally withstand.”

“If you don’t burn your Cosmos to resist it, you’ll suffer frostbite.”

Seiya and Shiryu listened in bewilderment.

But Ryosho still had not answered the question they actually wanted answered.

Why did he not feel cold?

They had simply been overwhelmed by the flood of technical information.

It did not take them long to figure it out.

Ryosho was wearing a Silver Cloth, and not an ordinary one.

Only now did Shiryu take a proper look at Ryosho’s reborn Crateris Cloth.

Its deep silver luster was completely different from what it had looked like before.

“It’s because of your Cloth, isn’t it?”

Shiryu looked at Ryosho’s Crateris Cloth in surprise.

Ryosho smiled.

Shiryu was sharp after all.

At least Ryosho’s lengthy explanation about Cloths had not gone to waste.

“But in this Freezing Air, Hyoga is only wearing the Cygnus Bronze Cloth...”

Concern appeared on Seiya’s face.

Ryosho’s expression also grew serious.

Since entering the Twelve Temples, Hyoga had only been thoroughly beaten by Camus in the Libra Temple.

Other than that, he had barely experienced any proper battles.

Ryosho had no idea whether Hyoga could actually comprehend Absolute Zero while facing Camus’s Freezing Air, which was approaching absolute zero itself.

What worried him even more was something else.

If anything went wrong, would his Crateris Cup be able to heal Camus’s body after it had been damaged by Freezing Air so close to absolute zero?

Just then, Camus’s shocked voice came from up ahead.

“What... Hyoga, that stance...”

“Impossible! It's the Aurora Execution!”

“Fool! Your own techniques failed, so now you’re trying to struggle with my technique instead?”

Ryosho, Seiya, and Shiryu exchanged glances and immediately rushed forward.

They saw Aquarius Camus and Hyoga standing with their hands clasped above their heads, forming the shape of an Aquarius.

Their Cosmos were rising at an astonishing speed.

Ryosho looked at the two of them helplessly, then turned to Seiya and Shiryu.

“You two need to get out of here.”

“With your current Cosmos, there’s no way you can withstand the combined power of both their Freezing Air.”

“But...”

Seiya and Shiryu looked anxiously at Hyoga, whose Cloth had already been completely shattered.

Even if Hyoga managed to win, without a Cloth protecting his body...

“Don’t worry. I’m here!”
