How’s everyone doin’ this week? Good week? Gettin’ up to some fun stuff?
So we’re at a kinda interesting crossroads in production here, so I figured I’d give y’all a lil sneaky peek behind the curtain of what’s going on in da Sticky Studio…
Something I might have mentioned before is how much work happens between the work. Whenever I have some time where I’m not directing, compositing, hiring animators, editing, working on my own shots, animating coom, or dealing with all the other day-to-day production stuff, you’ll usually find me conceptualizing and writing scripts for future projects. Once a script is locked, it goes straight to Yasumi for storyboarding, which lets us build up a catalogue of prepared projects and keep things moving along smooooovly.
And speaking of that catalogue, y’all know that The IngridFans Shoot is slated to be our next film and we've been working with VAs and animators to get Ingrid ready for full production...
But! There’s another project that has been quietly catching up to Ingrid…Annnnnnd that project is All Those Years Later. (Starring a 27 year-old Fern!)
Back in May I started picking away at it. I had a loose idea of what I wanted to do with it even while I did A Short Detour, and after taking my time with it and figuring out exactly what I wanted the film to be, I finished the script in July. During the making of Stuckplug, Yasumi was wrapping up the Ingrid storyboards, then he moved onto Fern, and at this point, he only needs another couple of weeks to wrap the storyboards for it.
Which puts us in a unique position becaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuse...
Mah dudes. I’mma be takin’ two weeks off. I know, I know. I love y’all, I love what I do, and I’m incredibly lucky and grateful to be able to make these films for yous, but I haven’t had a proper break since 2024 when I started this journey full time. I very often work 6 days a week, and my clock dun stop at 5pm.. Or 6… or 9 or even midnight most days. The lovely humans in my life keep telling me I ought to take a lil break sooo I’mma listen to them.
But as mentioned, we’re in a unique moment because when I return, we can move either Fern or Ingrid forward into production. I know y’all have been asking for a Fern film for a while so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to let you decide what comes next. Vote below and we’ll start on the film you vote in when I’m back!
During my break time I’ll still have a couple of lil posts for ya, next week a Spanish dub of Industrial Lust (Raven Film) is coming, and the week after I have a little behind the scenes post for Stuckplug for ya. I thank ya very kindly for your understanding while a take a smol break. It’s much needed and I shall returned refreshed and rejuvenated!
TLDR: I’m taking two weeks off! Storyboards for Fern take two weeks to finish so we could start on either Ingrid or Fern, s’up to yous! Vote!
