abbystea - The Story Behind the Sasha Trusova Collage, Queen of Quads
infoAbout This Title
I’m sorry, but I honestly have no idea what to post. Today, someone requested a refund on Patreon, and I hadn’t even noticed that anyone had subscribed T_T Please forgive me. Apparently, I’m really terrible at managing paid platforms.
I know many of you came here for Venti and Lisa, but these days I very rarely feel inspired to draw them. I still have some old VenLisa projects that I occasionally try to finish...
Right now, I’m deeply into figure skating again, just like I was back in 2017. I have so many ideas that I can barely keep up with even sketching them all. I feel incredibly inspired.
Perhaps you’ll enjoy what I’m drawing now. I have a lot of material that I’ve never posted—some of it didn’t make the cut, and some of it was simply forgotten.
For example, when I was drawing Alexandra Trusova in her famous look, I originally planned to create a collage featuring four different poses. I’ve attached both the final version of the illustration and the way I initially envisioned it. At some point, I got too lazy to draw the other two poses xD, so I kept the most recognizable one: her final pose, as well as the beautiful, dynamic moment of Sasha gliding backward.
Besides the groundbreaking quadruple jumps that earned Sasha Trusova a place in Guinness World Records, she is also famous for her cantilever—a move in which she leans so far back while skating that she almost lies flat against the ice. Her physical strength is simply incredible. Perhaps I’ll finish drawing her cantilever after all, because every time I see her perform it, my heart skips a beat.
I’ve also attached the photographs that inspired this collage.
P.S. Oh God, it turns out that talking about my thoughts while drawing—and about all the preparation that goes into it—is actually incredibly interesting. I need to start taking notes so I can keep track of the key ideas and everything that inspires me.
