About This Title
Hey all,
Time for a monthly update.
Well, Chapter 10 is now out. I hope you’ve enjoyed it, or if you haven’t had chance to play it yet, I hope you enjoy it when you do! And for those that didn’t get there yet, there will be some minor spoilers about the chapter in this update, so I will signpost them when we get to them.
Firstly, I want to touch some more upon the great Origin Story NTS Controversy of 2026 (not really).
Thank you everyone for all your support when it comes to the decision I have made to course correct Origin Story into my original direction and include optional sharing/swinging content. While some have been sceptical about the intended content, almost every one of those people have been reasonable and understand the concept of “optional”. Some of you have even been very excited about the prospect. VERY excited in fact.
And sure, there were couple of supporters that did not take kindly to the news and went on a little bit of a rampage, but most of the negativity is coming from SOME non-supporting Zoners. And those are the kind of people who made naïve noob dev JDOR pivot away from his vision in the first place, and this version of JDOR isn’t going to let them bother him anymore. And would you believe it, despite this decision, I’m having my most successful month ever. It’s almost as if they truly are the minority.
And the other good news is that I’m seriously excited about working on Origin Story now. I wasn’t hitting burn out or anything, so don’t worry, but I’m certainly more enthusiastic now than I ever was. I’m probably too enthusiastic in fact. My render queue as I type this is 350+ long. I’ve never hit that before. And it grows exponentially. That’s “my PC can’t keep up with me” numbers. That’s “you’re going to need more than one dedicated render rig for this kind of output” numbers.
A couple of updates on stuff I addressed in my Sharers FAQs post:
I changed a little of how the sharing option will work. A point will come up in Chapter 11 where, if you have opted into the idea of sharing, you have a discussion (or an internal monologue… if a certain LI isn’t available to you to have the discussion with) about which girls you would “maybe” up for getting involved. You will be asked about ALL main LIs you are intimate with so far. So, you can say yes to Evelyn, yes to Amber, no to Ruth, yes to Georgia etc… I’ve done this for a few reasons:
1) It was kind of important to get a feel for the players interests in sharing for a certain later part of Chapter 11 that will affect some dialogue (not actually any scenes you will physically see… kind of). You understand what I mean by this when the time comes. Spoilers, ya know.
2) It gives me an added layer of protection against people who don’t want sharing scenes with certain characters. E.g. if you’ve turned Evelyn off, you won’t even be presented with the option for any sharing scenes with Evelyn, you’ll just default to the non-sharing version.
3) It opens the door to future scenes with characters I hadn’t planned scenes for yet, if anything did come to mind.
Choosing yes to these girls will not automatically make the game default to the sharing option for any scenes with these girls. You will still be given the option to choose when the time comes.
If you have the sharing content option on, it will assume that any side girl (dick icon) is available to be shared, but, again, you will still be given to choice for those scenes if and when they occur.
It is also worth noting, that I had scenes planned where certain girls you have rejected may be briefly witnessed… “getting over you”. I’m still going to go ahead with them. This will only occur if you have safe mode off and you reject those girls. So, if you don’t like it, don’t reject them, I guess.
And lastly, the final thing on this topic that I want to touch upon is sadly a result of some comments I’ve seen despite me saying that I wouldn’t let comments get to me. But these ones kind of make sense because I don’t think I wrote it very clearly. This is where we talk minor spoilers for Chapter 10 so…
[CHAPTER 10 MINOR SPOILER WARNING]So, in Chapter 10, the option to opt in or out of sharing content comes from Parker after she throws the idea out there that maybe not being so possessive of your girls might be a way to fend off the version of MC who apparently wiped out all the men. She reasons that it’s probably a good way to show people that he’s not willing to become this version of himself.
Some of the feedback I’ve seen is that people think this is me “guilt tripping people into sharing” as “letting other guys fuck your girls is the only way to prevent this apocalyptic future”.
So, let me be clear. The sharing has NO impact on the overall outcome of the future. None. Will potential other visions of the future include some references to sharing stuff if you opted in? Sure. But it won’t be a case of “you don’t get the bad future anymore because you chose to share” or “boo, no sharing, bad future for you!”.
Hell, the apocalyptic future happens even in safe mode, where sharing should not even an available option (“should” because in the first build, this silly dev didn’t lock the question behind safe mode as he originally intended – this has been fixed for a bugfix release coming soon). Does that mean those players don’t even get a chance at avoiding that future at all? No, because that’s just silly.
This was simply Parker throwing ideas out based on her experience of what the MC’s parents went through when they experimented sexually and nothing more. I even have a few lines in Chapter 11 where the MC acknowledges that it’s a dumb idea, and there’s no way the future could possibly be hinged upon that.
It was simply meant to plant the seed of sharing in MC’s mind and allow his interest to grow in it and thus open the doorway to it, if you chose to opt in, of course.
So, I may just add a couple of more lines of dialogue to this scene for a future update, to clarify this and hopefully avoid any further misunderstanding of my intentions.
[CHAPTER 10 MINOR SPOILER ENDS]And onto a related topic, I want to raise some support for PinkSpectre's new game "Dreams of Glory". Pink is an extremely talented artist, and I have been waiting for the release of his game with much anticipation. Unfortunately, upon release, he was immediately met with a similar kind of ire from a vocal minority that received when I first released my game, and all because he has planned optional sharing/swinging content in the future. So, to stick it to those haters, please do what you can to show him support. You can access the first release of his game, for free, through his patreon here.
Now, onto a short update on Chapter 11 Progress:
So, at the time of writing this, I have just over 680 scenes posed already… although half of them is still in the queue waiting to be rendered.
I have a couple of scenes that need their lewd sections fleshing out with some writing, but otherwise, the whole chapter is written.
I’m also going to try something new with the upcoming monthly blogs when it comes to giving you some information on Chapter 11, and that is teasing you (sometimes cryptically) with a sentence describing a plot point that you’ll be seeing in the release, so this month’s teaser is:
“MC returns to the Academy to find his group of misfits has doubled in size”.
Now, a couple of other things to look out for in the future
I did a written interview for the AVNSider on GameStoryLog. That should be posted in a few weeks. We talk about the game, my favorite girls, my inspirations, some behind the scenes stuff and naturally touch upon the NTS controversy. Though they may have to cut half of the length down because if you haven’t already guessed by blogs like this, I can talk (when I’m behind a keyboard at least).
And I’m planning to do an “ask me (almost) anything” style post soon. I did one a few years ago, when I was very small and didn’t have many supporters, but it was fun, nonetheless. I saw DogCat doing one recently and it inspired me to copy his style try it again for myself. So, look out for that and get your questions ready.
K, that’s it. Catch you on the flipside.
Peace,
JDOR
