About This Title

Welcome back to Paradise!

I've got a little bit of some bad news to report. Unfortunately I'm going to have to delay the release by a week. Tried my best but at this point I've got easily another 96 hours of rendering left. This is based on the amount of time the last several dozen renders have taken. I know I've got a whole bunch of outdoor beach renders coming up in the queue that are very fast each taking about 8 minutes each. Currently my computers are running through an indoor scene with renders taking anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes depending on how many characters are in the scene. I've got maybe another 35 or so renders from that scene left to do.

So yeah, not going to be done by Monday. I thought about cutting out parts to make it but in the end I decided not to. I think I got some good stuff written and I don't really want to neuter it to meet a deadline. So here's the updated release schedule:

Next up, I'm going to be doing a Part 4 to Chapter 6 because there is just too much I want to get done before the end of Chapter 6. I thought about pushing these scenes off into Chapter 7 but for story reasons I really want Chapter 7 to start off in the morning of day 5 on the island.

Chapter 6 is going to be massive, it's going to end up well over 2000 renders. Not sure if that's because releasing it in parts allows me to do more or if it's just the way the story is going. So much to tie up before we move on to Chapter 7.

Paradise Lore You Should Know #4

On May 10th 1948 a boat set off for the island carrying workers, equipment and building supplies. Upon anchoring off the west side of the island the first task was to build a dock to allow easier offloading or materials from the ship.

From there they progressed quickly, cutting back the jungle growth that had accumulated on the dirt roads the military had built long ago. The main goal being of clearing a path to the abandoned airfield to assess it's condition. While it was still mostly intact, there was a lot of repairs that needed to be completed as well as modifications to turn it from a military airfield into something more useful for civilian use. It was determined that the cost of this project would come in at around $350,000 which was split between the 8 members. There had been some grumblings among some of the less wealthy members, but Robert was able to smooth things over. After all the airfield was an important part of the island's operation, chartering a boat to travel to the island required days of travel while you could reach the island in a few hours by plane.

The next big project that was set down was the construction of a power plant. This had been agreed beforehand at one of the member meetings. The members were accustomed to the finer things in life and living without electricity would simply not have worked. Furthermore the cost required if each member looked after their own electricity generation could get expensive. It's for this reason it was decided that they would have a communal power plant that would service the island. Much more efficient and cheaper in the long run.

Workers began placing poles and running power lines along the existing road network and along the new roads being built to service every member's properties on the island. A large coal power plant was constructed on southern end of the island in an area of exceptionally flat land near a fresh water lake the plant would use to power it's steam turbines. Total cost of this project was $450,000 and evenly split again.

Next on the agenda came water treatment, again the members were accustomed to a life of luxury and living without easily available fresh water and indoor plumbing was not something they were going to tolerate. They built the Water Treatment plant near the Power Plant and ran sewage and water lines beneath the roadways connecting all the member properties. From there each member would be responsible for their own connections to the communal system. Total project had been projected to be $450,000 but ended up costing slightly over $500,000.

The ballooning costs on the island were starting to get some grumblings among the members but as always Robert was there to smooth things over and promise them that the project would bear fruit and would be well worth it. All this work would be completed on August 21rst 1948.

Robert very well aware of the mood changing on this project, often times covering the cost overruns of the project from his own pocket. He realized that he needed to give the members hope that this whole thing wasn't a big scam. He met with his best friend Thomas as they were easily the two most wealthiest members of the group. From this meeting they agreed that they would accelerate their plans and begin construction of their mansions on the island right away. Once these were built they could start hosting parties to show the other members the possibilities the island could bring.

Construction on these mansions were completed about the same time around November 15th 1948 and Robert had the honor of hosting the island's first party; The Winter Ball took place on December 9th 1948 while Thomas would hold the New Years party on January 1rst 1949. For both events the boys hired prostitutes, burlesque performers and showgirls. The event was pageantry at it's finest, the boys spared no expenses. Robert needed the other members to see what the island could offer; tons of available sex, booze, drugs and the ability to be as perverted as one cared to be without fear of ending up in the papers the next day.
