About This Title

Hello! I've been working hard on the slime dungeon lately and wanted to share some progress. I have most of the scenario done, but there are still some bugs to fix, final touches to add, and some new outfits to make. I plan to have this update ready in about a week, which should give me just enough time to get another Snackrooms update done by Halloween. In the meantime here's a preview of what's to come.

Slimes are the main focus of the dungeon so I developed a few different types that will feed the player in different ways. I considered using softbody physics for these, but that seemed like overkill especially if there are going to be lots of slimes on screen at once. So I opted for a more economical approach by setting up some blendshapes to animate them and a vertex shader that causes their surface to continuously shift.

Then I made 3 different slime variants that interact with the player in different ways. First we have the little baby slimes. They aren't aggressive and simply wander around aimlessly. They can be eaten like the gummy worms in the Flonka factory. They can help you put on the weight you'll need to proceed deeper into the dungeon.

Then there are the medium slimes. They will pursue the player when they approach then climb up to their head in an attempt to suffocate their victim. Unfortunately for them, the player can turn the tables by devouring them with their bottomless appetite. If you're on a diet, these slimes can also be killed by luring them into the dungeon's traps.

Lastly, there's the king slime. It's big enough to engulf the player's entire body and will attempt to fill their victim with slime until they pop, but who will pop first???

Like I said, there's still some more work to be done, but the hardest parts are complete. So far, this has been a fun scenario to work on and developing the slime enemies is helping me figure out new ways for NPCs to interact with the player, which will be valuable knowledge in the future.

Anyway, that's all for now. Thanks for your patience and I'll be back with a new dev build soon!
