shinyheartbeats - HOTEL LEX - FLOOR 5 (17/?)
infoAbout This Title
Before Bean can get any further down the aisle, you tell him that you should make plans for somewhere to meet up.
"Oh, okay! How about if you keep walking down the fifth floor, there's an ice cream parlor. See you there in an hour?"
You give him a thumbs up and lead Emmett out of Carpet World.
"Where t-to, then?" Emmett asks, his eyes looking around at all the possibilities.
You see more store lights start to turn on and many more patrons appear. You still can't get over how unreal it feels as a row of green army men hobble past you. You walk over to what looks like a map drawn with crayons and locate yourself along its scribbles. The fifth floor consists mostly of furniture and lifestyle stores, just as Mother had said. You read off a couple of the names, trying to deduce the stores' contents.
"W-what about this one?" Emmett points at a label: Urban Odyssey. You peer around to see if it's in view but see nothing. You shrug and start the trek over.
You look over at Emmett and try to gauge how he's feeling. His eyes are just as wide as ever but they dart from side to side. Perhaps it is the instinct of a bunny, or there is just so much to see. You squeeze his hand and he looks over at you and smiles. Your heart skips a beat and you quickly turn away, blushing. His nose twitches as you walk by the ice cream parlor that Bean mentioned and you make a mental note of its location. You pause to take a deep breath in and the aroma of vanilla and chocolate fills your plush nose. It seems, though toys don't eat, they can smell. The ice cream parlor seems to be a shop for various scents and perfumes. You see plastic displays of giant cones of ice cream and waffles. You lick your lips, still having not tasted food in a while, though you aren't feeling hunger pangs. You ask if Emmett is hungry at all.
"I think I feel l-l-like I s-should be hungry, but I-I don't feel hungry," he says, rubbing his stomach with a paw. You ask what is the last thing he ate was.
"At the carnival, t-t-there was a popcorn machine, s-so I had some of that!" he says, now thinking back.
You say that the last thing you had was a burrito after work before finding yourself in the hotel.
"Oh, you m-must be really hungry then..." Emmett says, slightly worried.
You laugh it off, mentioning similar sensations of lacking the physical need for food.
You continue on and eventually find yourself standing in front of Urban Odyssey. Its red brick is reminiscent of Brooklyn buildings with stairs leading up to its entrance. You look next to the store and something catches your eye: 'MAGIC EMPORIUM.' Its giant top hat with a rabbit sticking out of it intrigues you. You make eye contact with the rabbit and he winks at you. You shake your head, unsure of what you just saw, before feeling Emmett tug your hand. You step over the metal grate on the side of the building and up the stone steps. Like Carpet World, the front feels more like a facade as the interior always appears larger than its exterior. The open layout of the store is accompanied by stairs on either side of the walls leading to a loft. Before you can get more than a few steps in, an action figure deer dressed in casual clothing and holding a tablet comes up to you.
"Hello there! Welcome to Urban Odyssey!" she says, her voice cheery.
"H-hi!" Emmett replies automatically.
"Please let me know if there's anything you're looking for! We do have a sale currently going on with our new product, the floating light. Change its color, change its intensity, follows you around by a string!" the deer chirps, gesturing toward a giant table placed near the entrance. It sports many different shapes, one of which you identify as a balloon dog. Some hover like tied-down balloons and glow softly.
> Take a look at the table.> Leave the store.> Just browse around.
