3DArtGuy - The Meme Has Come Full Circle (Fantasy WIP)
About This Title
Hello!
The next set of Fantasy updates are here! There are high resolution turntables of the latest updates are attached to the post.
So first up is the wizard with a gun meme which I actually did not expect to do that well in the polls. From what I can tell, the meme spawned from this image that went viral. And whatever grows viral tends to proliferate into new variations which I'm sure you can find just by googling it. The joke is basically wizards eventually run out of spells so players said they should start using firearms as a solution.
Anyways, for my version I decided to go with a costume style I found kind of funny from the entire pile. I also gave him a M60 machine gun instead of the AK-47 just to mix things up a bit.
The poll suggestion was just to do the meme, but I decided to take it one step further and bring it back to it's origin point. Gandalf as portrayed by Ian McKellen is pretty much THE wizard in pop culture and my personal favorite incarnation of the character. So I wanted to make a version that does justice to such an iconic character in Tolkien's setting. Memes are funny and all but the inspiration behind the meme is even better. I'm experimenting with some variations but this is what I have so far. I hope Gandalf fans like it as well.
Next up are updates from a community member request for a Ravenloft style castle. So I looked at some floorplans that I found online and did my best to construct what I could make sense of. The castle is usually cut off by a towered bridge and juts out alone on a cliff. Some variations even have the castle fortified with a secondary wall. I haven't filled in all the details yet but I do believe this is roughly how the castle should look like.
I'll keep adding some detail in the month and see what community members think I should change or add. I think a certain vampire likes it so far.
There was also a community member request to start including some fantasy banners. I've started the process and will show the other versions in future updates.
So based on everything I've done so far this month, I've come up with some ideas I wanted to try out. More to come in future updates and the monthly free gift will also be posted next week. Stay tuned!
